Obama to Republicans: 'So sue me'

(CNN) - President Barack Obama dared Republicans to follow through on their threats to bring a lawsuit against his administration over his use of executive action.

"Middle-class families can’t wait for Republicans in Congress to do stuff. So sue me," Obama said Tuesday at an event in Washington.

"As long as they’re doing nothing, I’m not going to apologize for trying to do something."

Obama’s defiant attitude comes as House Speaker John Boehner, a Republican from Ohio, plans to propose legislation that could bring a lawsuit against him for implementing executive actions that the GOP contends amounts to a breach of his constitutional power by side-stepping the legislative process.

Obama: Boehner's lawsuit is 'a stunt'

Recently, Obama has ramped up his use of executive authority as a way to bypass a deeply divided Congress, avoiding inaction on issues the White House has made hallmarks of the President's second term agenda.

On Monday, Obama said he would start "a new effort to fix as much of our immigration system as I can on my own, without Congress."

Poll: Can Obama get the job done?

At Tuesday's event, Obama continued to harp on congressional Republicans to pass legislation - this time pushing them to invest in transportation.

Standing in front of Key Bridge, which connects the city's Georgetown-area to Virginia, Obama continued his stepped-up rhetoric hammering Republican for obstructing action in Washington.

A fundraising first for Obama

Obama proposed a long-term highway construction bill earlier this year that he says would spur job growth.

"It’s not crazy, it’s not socialism," Obama said of his transportation proposal. "It’s not the imperial presidency - no laws are broken. We’re just building roads and bridges like we’ve been doing for the last, I don’t know, 50, 100 years. But so far, House Republicans have refused to act on this idea."

CNN's Mike Ahlers and Rene Marsh contributed to this report.

it would stand to reason that if the congress was to sue the president over his executive orders, it would be drug out for years getting nothing done. if congress is truly concerned about a president's executive orders then cut the executive branch's budget, or create a law that would curb it.

I'm so glad Oloser fulfilled his BS campaign promise of finding ways to work with the opposite party.
Pretty much a lie like everything else out of this liar's mouth.
Pathetic how brain dead Obama drones flock to cover for this failed president.

Boehner, who do you think you are? Obama is 10x the leader you'll ever be, and at least he attempts to spend the government money on useful things.

@ Mike, if you're middle class and you blame Obama because you think he owes you something, guess again. All you have in this country is an opportunity. If your life sucks, its because of you, not him. This country was never set up to give the successful a free lunch, unless you want the GOP to do that for you: then you'll be stuck in an even worse spot. They don't give a damn about you unless you are wealthy.

I love it when the Liberals say that the debt has gone down under Obama. Look at the deficit when he entered office and the deficit today! And I don't want to hear that it was Bush's fault as that excuse is getting old. This President loves to spend money and taking every dime of the top 5% wouldn't put a dent in it.

You really gotta love the retards who watch Faux all day every day. When he walked into office, the POTUS took on a massive debt by GWB. He has been slowly but surely turning this thing around. And before you call me a liberal, nope. All GOP here baby, and a realist. Call it want you want, but our party is screwing the pooch. I wish Huntsman would've won the Primary, we would have had a better shot at winning the election, but nope he who can move furthest to the right and say dumb things win. Jindal was right, we are the party of stupid, and it all started with McCain selecting Palin. This is absolute nonsense, we are suppose to be fiscally responsible, and we are tearing this country apart.

The President is wrong when he says that he is at least trying to do something to help the Middle Class. Sometimes it is better to listen to what your citizens need and can benefit themselves and the country by having before taking actions such as wasting $2 Billion to benefit illegal aliens.
The real story, one that the administration is attempting to silence is the fact that the children have medical issues that could keep them from legally immigrating to the Us, as well as threaten the well being of healthcare workers at the detention centers. Don't take my word for it contact the Texas Department of Health, CDC and DHS, but be prepared to get stone walled.

These are Children – we cannot turn our backs on these innocent beings. This is a test in a Spiritual sense – we need to find compassion. Now – I suggest, having these children adopted into American Homes where people have been approved and waiting to adopt. Change these children's last names to the adoptive parents. These children when they are of the age of 18 can work and send money back to their families if they so choose.

The issue here is poverty on the highest level in Mexico – We can change the World One Child at a Time.

Also, we can ask for donations from profitable Big Corporations and individuals to help these children with healthy food, clothing and aide where it is needed for temp. housing.

He says this as he destroys the Middle-class he is claiming to work for.
Pres. Obama gave the middle class a tax cut, which the Republicans fought against in favor of a cut for their "job creators."

Obama to Republicans: 'So sue me'"

Oh, they will. The GOP doesn't have any better ideas, has nothing better to do with their time, and nothing better to spend the U.S. Taxpayers money on.

About that $2 billion, there is a law that Bush signed that applies to minors. It says that we cannot dump them back across the border, and that we must shelter them until relatives are located. In other words, the President is following the law, but the Republicans have so far not changed it. They would rather pretend that he's providing a safe haven for illegal immigrants.

The real Tom Paine, my life is fine just not as good with Obama in office. I travel around the world for business and see that our country is turning into Europe. 50% tax at least and they do not have the number of people we have to support that, the ones that want a free ride. Nice place to visit, don't want to live there. If you enjoy working to pay for people who want a free ride move there.

Obama is NOT a leader. He is forcing what HE wants all America. This is no longer a Republic it is a Dictatorship. He must be removed from office. Why can't someone start Impeachment proceedings?
How's that "Change" working for you? Why do I have to pay for others health insurance when I have my own bills to pay. Obama can eff off. To you lazy people reading this get off your butts and contribute to society. Too bad The Purge wasn't a real thing because you'd see a huge change in America.

It is very amusing that Boehner is accusing the president of sidestepping the legislative process, when he has ensured that the legislative process is frozen still in his part of the congress. The repub retards need to know that they need to start doing their job instead of accusing the president of doing what he is elected to do, step in when congress is held hostage to the selfish narcistic whims of the tea party and their overall masters the GOP.

People are always afraid of change until change us made and becomes the norm. Then they realise there was never anything to fear. Open your minds and pay attention to what Obama is trying to do. Look at the long term benefits. Don't cower in the face of change because you don't underatand it yet.

Bottom line is that the GOP in the HoR have tried everything to sabotage Obama's presidency.

They even publicly announced it. You can google for the video. "Anything to make Obama a one term president."

They have voted down or filibustered many things that were bi-partisan. Things that would have put Americans back to work, or helped vets. Then they have tried to pass new legislature that on the surface seemed okay, but that had provisions that tore down all or parts of the ACA. Then they have the audacity to say "see the president isn't working with us."

The has never in the last 50 years been a more destructive HoR. They should be thrown in jail and fined.

And you GOP Faux News type that froth at the mouth believing one fake scandal after another who think Obama is the worst president ever are completely blind.
