Obama to Republicans: 'So sue me'

(CNN) - President Barack Obama dared Republicans to follow through on their threats to bring a lawsuit against his administration over his use of executive action.

"Middle-class families can’t wait for Republicans in Congress to do stuff. So sue me," Obama said Tuesday at an event in Washington.

"As long as they’re doing nothing, I’m not going to apologize for trying to do something."

Obama’s defiant attitude comes as House Speaker John Boehner, a Republican from Ohio, plans to propose legislation that could bring a lawsuit against him for implementing executive actions that the GOP contends amounts to a breach of his constitutional power by side-stepping the legislative process.

Obama: Boehner's lawsuit is 'a stunt'

Recently, Obama has ramped up his use of executive authority as a way to bypass a deeply divided Congress, avoiding inaction on issues the White House has made hallmarks of the President's second term agenda.

On Monday, Obama said he would start "a new effort to fix as much of our immigration system as I can on my own, without Congress."

Poll: Can Obama get the job done?

At Tuesday's event, Obama continued to harp on congressional Republicans to pass legislation - this time pushing them to invest in transportation.

Standing in front of Key Bridge, which connects the city's Georgetown-area to Virginia, Obama continued his stepped-up rhetoric hammering Republican for obstructing action in Washington.

A fundraising first for Obama

Obama proposed a long-term highway construction bill earlier this year that he says would spur job growth.

"It’s not crazy, it’s not socialism," Obama said of his transportation proposal. "It’s not the imperial presidency - no laws are broken. We’re just building roads and bridges like we’ve been doing for the last, I don’t know, 50, 100 years. But so far, House Republicans have refused to act on this idea."

CNN's Mike Ahlers and Rene Marsh contributed to this report.

Obama, one of the worst Presidents, who would have thought that was gonna happen? Here's a reality check, things are so bad and the country is so divided that it has come down to nothing but pointing fingers. Things are getting so bad for Obama that even the Democrats are starting to distance themselves from him. The people that voted for Obama, you all felt for it, you all bought into that hope and change crap. What is he doing now, he telling you all what you want to hear and does the opposite, he's trying to pass laws without Congressional approval, the economy is disastrous, jobs are scarce, and he is spitting in the face of what this country stands for and don't even get me started on ObamaCare. Even though you elected Obama over MCcain (an American War Hero that fought for this country by the way) I was willing to give Obama a chance, see what he can do and after what he did in his first term ( worst record then Jimmy Carter) you elected him anyway over Mitt Romney, a self made billionaire business man that understands business management, the economy, the stock market and has a record of creating jobs and yet that didn't matter to you. The people that voted for Obama in, you only have yourselves to blame, you didn't see the warning signs and now your paying for it and unfortunately the people that didn't vote for him are suffering as well. You elected a Public Speaker, not a leader and certainly not a President.

BHO had the world by the tail and he blew it. He refused to work with Congress and delegated everything to leaders on the Hill ... he was not proactive in addressing public policy issues with the exception of the ACA! He talked down to members of the other party, called them by their base names "John" in public instead of showing them respect "Senator McCain" ... he showed no willingness to study issues and learn the facts! Reading a speech doesn't make one a leader!

Obama should be sued. He has destroyed a large part of U.S. of America. He is a Terrorist. Republicans aren't the problem it's the Democrats. Most of them are Communist and should be put out of office. Can't believe the idiot that voted for him. He could have stopped ISIS from entering Iraq. Send the Drones in and bomb them. He wants to destroy the best Country in the World. There is a lot of Terrorist in the U.S. Waiting to strike the U.S. The Republicans are weak.. I wish Gov. Huckabee would run for President. Maybe, Gov. Bush. We need strong men like the Late John Wayne. Clint Eastwood, would be good but he's too old. .

This has been the most do-nothing Congress any President has had to deal with. Someone has to act on the many problems facing America – Go Obama!!!

Maybe, it's time for the Tea Party to take over. We need to get our Country back from Communism. If Obama doesn't get out of office. We will go into another big depression worse then the 40's. President Truman was a good President RIP. He bombed Japan and stopped the World War 11. That's what we should do and stop the Islamic Terriorists There Religion is praying to the Devil.

Eric Cantor was so busy trying to sabotage Obama (like the Republicans in Congress) he sabotaged himself – and the Republicans still fail to learn their lesson!!!

To many of the posters who claim its all the GOP's fault – perhaps they need to ask too why Harry Reid has not allowed a single piece of GOP legislation, amendment etc – EVER COME UP FOR A VOTE. Stop watching MSNBC and wake up.

Considering that we as a nation have bankrolled the multi-year holiday our honorable congressmen have taken, I personally will be pleased if speaker Boehner and friends sue the president. They will finally earn their pay for the week.

As for the president's executive orders, I personally prefer him using his pen to sign orders made by our legislative representatives. That said, given the present situation, I can sympathize with his position.

I like the President as a person; however, thousands and thousands of Illegal aliens are flooding into southern Arizona and other southwestern states. They are roaming the streets like lost dogs, without food, housing, medicine or employment. A crime wave is coming to these areas as people do not starve quietly. These Illegals aliens are filling the parks and physically laying in the streets.

A Nation without a boarder is NO longer a Nation! It's a failed State. America is becoming a failed State.

I'm not an American, but I feel Obama has done much to USA. I am surprised when Americans seem to hate him so much. This is a guy who brought USA back to its glory pre crisis. And it's no brainer that Congress is trying to put him down. Remember last October Federal shutdown, where Congress refused to allocate money at the cost of US economy and its citizens? Guess what, after they finally give in to Obama, US economy is up higher than ever. Obama is no miracle healer, but US is no longer on its knees, and much credit goes to him.

How about we sue every single politician! They all are just in it for themselves. Perhaps with the exception of a few here and there. But Republicans, Democrats alike are sucky! Better yet, let's sue ourselves for voting in all of these selfish idiots! lol
