Palin calls for Obama's impeachment over border crisis

(CNN) - Sarah Palin said President Barack Obama's inaction over the escalating crisis on the southern border is grounds for impeachment.

The Republican firebrand wrote in a an op-ed published Tuesday in the conservative website Breitbart that "(Obama's) unsecured border crisis is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, 'no mas.'"

Calls for impeachment are coming from the President's harshest critics on the right and have intensified over the new immigration crisis. However, such a step is far-fetched, especially with Democrats currently in control of the Senate.

In the blistering op-ed, the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee accuses Obama of intentionally allowing immigrants into the United States, hampering American job opportunities.

"President Obama’s rewarding of lawlessness, including his own, is the foundational problem here," she wrote.

"It’s time to impeach; and on behalf of American workers and legal immigrants of all backgrounds, we should vehemently oppose any politician on the left or right who would hesitate in voting for articles of impeachment."

Asked Wednesday about Palin’s comments, House Speaker John Boehner simply said, “I disagree.”

Pressed about others in his own House Republican conference that support impeachment, Boehner repeated, “I disagree.”

Republican opposition flares

Palin, who still remains popular and influential with tea party activists and others on the right,  is hardly the first conservative to accuse the President of unlawful activity.

But her pointed call for Obama’s impeachment adds a high-profile voice to the crowd of Republicans pushing for congressional action over what they view as an overreach of executive authority.

Key races to watch in 2014

Mike Huckabee also leveled heavy criticism at the commander in chief as a wave of illegal immigrants overwhelm federal facilities along the southern border.

In a statement Tuesday as Obama headed to Texas for a Democratic fundraising event, the former Arkansas governor and 2008 GOP presidential candidate – who's mulling another bid in 2016 – slammed the President for not planning to visit the border during his trip to the Lone Star state.

"While tens of thousands of illegal immigrants storm across the border, the President is jetting off to Texas - but not to see first-hand the mess his policies have created, but to attend high-dollar dinners with the 'swells' and extract as much money as he can from some people who got rich on the very oil he despises," Huckabee said.

Huckabee did not call for Obama’s impeachment over the border crisis but has predicted in the past that Obama would be ousted from office because of the 2012 attack in Benghazi that left four Americans dead.

Political tensions in Texas

Palin and Huckabee's sharp language comes as Obama requested nearly $4 billion in emergency funds from Congress to better respond to the influx of immigrants illegally crossing the border into Texas.

The state's governor Rick Perry, who ran for president in 2012 and is considering launching another bid in 2016, refused to greet the President at the airport and instead called for a meeting to discuss the immigration crisis.

Perry later accepted the White House's invitation for the Republican governor to meet with Obama in Dallas.

Republicans and even some Democrats contend Obama isn't doing enough to quell a surge of undocumented immigrants from Central America.

Critics say the administration invited the problem by halting deportations of some young immigrants who came to the country illegally in past years.

CNN's Paul Steinhauser, Tom Cohen, and Deirdre Walsh contributed to this report.

Nobody cares what this quitter has to say. She needs to find a real job and stop talking nonsense. If she wants Obama's approval to skyrocket, go ahead and push for impeachment. Go ahead, make my day!

Palin really needs to write a book on how to fail miserably as parents when your children have kids out of wedlock.

She forgets about the law enacted in the Bush admin – children who cross the border are required to have a hearing before being deported. That can take 2 years, assuming the kid ever shows up in court.

Obama is the worst president we have ever had! He tramples the Constitution as much as possible, lies so much that they cannot even keep track of it anymore, created this illegal alien disaster at the border, refuses to enforce our laws which he swore to uphold and enforce, there are scandals everywhere and he says he learned about most of them from the news, etc. Obama needs to be impeached and his lying cohort liberals need to go!

I live in a border state that is being overrun with illegals. The hands of our border patrol have been tied. Border patrol officers are no longer allowed to use guns unless fired upon. They have been issued pellet guns and tazers. If illegals throw rocks at them, they are required to back off.
A Mexican Teen that was Killed By Border Patrol recently was ruled by our own courts as being Protected By the U.S. Constitution even though he was a Mexican and not American. So now his family can legally Sue the border patrol officer.
Illegal immigrant crime is soaring and the police are hamstrung by court orders to not even ask if someone they stop is illegal, and DHS/ICE refuse to respond to their requests about status.
These illegals are getting free medical screenings while our veterans die waiting for one.
I have no doubt that this whole "crisis thing is being carefully orchestrated by the obama administration to give enough "reason" to enact his Amnesty desires!
Our rights as citizens are being ignored. Forget this reform crap, ENFORCE OUR LAWS THAT YOU SWORE TO UPHOLD OBAMA! Citizens' rights demand it. Citizens are NOT second class people in America! IMPEACH THE TRAITOR NOW!

Another profoundly stupid comment from Carribou Barbie. Go back to harassing state cops, and watching for Russians from your porch; you are way over your head talking about the Constitution.

Someone needs to bind and gag Palin and make sure she stays safely in Alaska. Given her lack of knowledge on things very basic to America, she is just not credible. Impeachment is unlikely; too many democrats who support the current idiocy. Anyone with any intelligence knew, before he took office for the second time, that this would be a "no holds barred" administration; after all, he has nothing to lose. Does he need to go? Absolutely. In fact they all need to go! We need to lose the illegals completely. You want to come to America? Do it legally. If you're not here legally, you're gone, if necessary with force. We need to bring jobs back to these United States for American citizens. Penalties need to be far harsher for hiring illegals. And these illegals? Boy do they know how to work our system. I can't begin to tell you how many cases I've seen where illegals are collecting nicely on workers' compensation cases, getting free healthcare and other benefits that the rest of us pay for. Most disturbing thing about the comp issue is that the attorneys who are taking the depositions KNOW that they're dealing with an illegal! This should not happen! And, if it does, the employer should be fined heavily, and INS should be waiting outside the deposition to cart off the illegal alien trying to benefit from a system without citizenship. I can't say it loudly enough, we need to clean house completely in DC.

I feel pretty bad for John Boehner. He's in the unfortunate position of being the highest Republican in congress that has to deal with every other congressional Republican, but not being crazy. It must be tough to deal with.

yea...she is right...extreme right...which is why most people don't take her self serving BS seriously.
If republicans are so worried about immigration, then why don't they do what Obama has been begging them to do...work on and pass an immigration bill...I guess their too busy voting 40 plus time to repeal Obamacare (without presenting an alternative) and now busy wasting more of our money on a political theater move of suing the President...I mean really, do these guys have any ideas of plans that they can offer?
