America to Sarah Palin: Enough!

(CNN) - A majority of voters say they've heard enough from Sarah Palin, according to a new national poll.

The NBC/Wall Street Journal/Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania survey indicates that 54% of voters say they've heard enough from Palin and would prefer that the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate be less outspoken in political discourse. That includes nearly two-thirds of Democrats, a majority of independents, and nearly four in 10 Republicans.

The poll's release came just a couple of days after Palin made national headlines by calling for the impeachment of President Barack Obama.

Palin, a Fox News Channel contributor, remains popular and influential with tea party activists and other grassroots conservatives.

Palin applauds Hillary Clinton's 'boldness' in memoir

Sen. John McCain, who tapped Palin as his running mate in the 2008 presidential election, said while he "respect(s) always Sarah Palin's views," her comments might hurt Republican chances of taking control of the Senate in 2014.

Asked by reporters on Thursday if its a mistake for the GOP to pursue impeachment, McCain said "yes."

"Because the real answer is to get control of the United States Senate. Then we can enact legislation which will curb exactly what Sarah Palin and others are saying they want to impeach him for. And you are never going to get 67 votes in the United States Senate either," he said.

McCain isn't the only high profile Republican dismissing Palin's call for Obama's impeachment. On Wednesday, House Speaker John Boehner also split with the former Alaska governor on the issue.

What other former politicians would voters like to keep quiet?

Fifty-one percent of those questioned said they've heard enough from former Democratic presidential candidate and civil rights leader Jesse Jackson. Forty-five percent said the same thing about former Vice President Dick Cheney, who's been a vocal critic of President Barack Obama.

The poll indicates that 43% said they've heard enough from former House speaker and 2012 GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, a co-host of CNN's "Crossfire," with four in 10 saying the same thing about former Vice President Al Gore, and 32% saying they've heard enough from Gore's old boss Bill Clinton.

The NBC News/Annenberg poll was conducted June 30-July 3 and July 5-7, with 1,137 registered voters nationwide questioned by telephone. The survey's overall sampling error is plus or minus 3.4 percentage points.

    Aw, Yes,
Nobody wants to hear the Cold Hard Facts. Agreed. However that thing called freedom of Speech does exist. BUT, The News Media doesn't have to print Palin's remarks, do they? Richard Nixon is long dead and the News Media is looking for a replacement. Long live (Richard Nixon) or maybe Sarah Palin !!! Come on people, you eat this stuff up !!!

Do you want to give the bride away or shall I volunteer for that honor? The good news is, it WOULD be a bi-partisan affair.

The president would like OBAMA 58% don't trust or want to hear from again??? Really Palin actually says what she means compared to the liar in chief who tell you what he thinks you want to hear and hides the rest while making jokes, being offered a joint or making the rounds of the bars in NV OH and that's between fund raisers... What a failure!

Why does anyone care if she speaks her mind. No one has to listen to her or read her comments or heed what she says. She has as much right to her opinion as anyone else and of course there is that little thing called Freedom of Speech!

Those two should tie the know if Fair weren't already married! They sound like an old married couple on this thread.

The American people have had enough with Obama! They can't silence individuals in this country – we are not a dictatorship – she can roar as long and as much as she wants!! Whoever doesn't like it, will have to deal with it – like we've all been dealing with Obama screaming from podiums for the last six years! And Hilary screeching "What difference does it make!?" Nauseating! Palin is a patriot – unlike these corrupt, power-hungry narcissists.

    Uh-huh.
But she had the "all-American" look dontchakno as compared to the man with the funny sounding name from Kenya. Hell, they let her be their Party's spokesperson long after the last drunk had hauled himself home from McCain's Defeat Party.
Sarah, Sarah everywhere telling Republicans what to say, how to vote, how to think and how to act.
I find it hilarious that some Republicons on this thread think that she should fade stage left,it being so close to election time and all.
Let Apple pie Sarah speak. Now more than ever. It will on illustrate the stark contrast between the intelligence and deportment of a Hillary Clinton versus the PWT that is all the Republicons have to offer.

You do know President Obama is the President right? And it is part of his duties to speak...... I agree let Sarah roar and most sane people will see her for what she is. A big mouthed half term governor without a brain in her head.

Is that a Green Eggs and Ham she's holding? So there's her author, Dr. Seuss. What is it with the baggers and their love for Green Eggs and Ham?? Probably the rhyming.😃

"Perry to Obama: This is a disaster"

The question CNN and the MSM won't bother to ask when the GOP/Teatrolls say that: FOR WHOM?

GOP/Teatroll answer is that they're focused solely on themselves and how this effects THEM. And yet, the REAL disaster is for those children, particularly since they are facing the wall of virulent bigotry the GOP/Teatrolls have erected that will taint every single attempt to address the problem in a manner that shows compassion and respect for what they are going through and for their basic human rights. All you have to do is look at the complete nonsense they spew on a regular basis, like Coburn claiming we can just stick them on plane and send them back, then wash our hands of the whole thing as if it never happened and they never existed.

the article doesnt say 'obama is going to muzzle sarah palin due to poll results' (top lel btw that people think this article in anyway restricts someones' free speech) The article says that a majority of americans dont think palin adds anything useful to any conversation, and would do better service to herself, the party she endorses, and the country by not spouting loony bin sentiments about everything

Absolutely she has the right to say what she wants. But no-one is required to report what she says, especially if no-one wants to hear it, which they don't. She is a stupid, ill-educated political failure who decided that making money was more important than public service.

I truly think that Palin means what she says. She really does believe in Death Panels and Paul Revere's Gun Rights ride. It is scary there are so many delusional people with a microphone out there. There is no better promotion for progressive liberal ideas than a conservative with her mouth open and no filter.

"'Refudiate,' 'misunderestimate,' 'wee-wee'd up.' English is a living language. Shakespeare liked to coin new words too. Some may be tired of hearing from Obama, but the difference is he ran for president and won TWICE! He did not vote himself into office. The most hateful, mean spirited people often are the loudest and making all the unnecessary noise which is unfortunate. This woman is so destructive and she NEVER have anything constructive to say, it's always negative because that is the heart, soul and spirit of this woman. I know her kids and husband are sorely disappointed in her as a mother and wife, but nothing they can do about it!
