America to Sarah Palin: Enough!

(CNN) - A majority of voters say they've heard enough from Sarah Palin, according to a new national poll.

The NBC/Wall Street Journal/Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania survey indicates that 54% of voters say they've heard enough from Palin and would prefer that the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate be less outspoken in political discourse. That includes nearly two-thirds of Democrats, a majority of independents, and nearly four in 10 Republicans.

The poll's release came just a couple of days after Palin made national headlines by calling for the impeachment of President Barack Obama.

Palin, a Fox News Channel contributor, remains popular and influential with tea party activists and other grassroots conservatives.

Palin applauds Hillary Clinton's 'boldness' in memoir

Sen. John McCain, who tapped Palin as his running mate in the 2008 presidential election, said while he "respect(s) always Sarah Palin's views," her comments might hurt Republican chances of taking control of the Senate in 2014.

Asked by reporters on Thursday if its a mistake for the GOP to pursue impeachment, McCain said "yes."

"Because the real answer is to get control of the United States Senate. Then we can enact legislation which will curb exactly what Sarah Palin and others are saying they want to impeach him for. And you are never going to get 67 votes in the United States Senate either," he said.

McCain isn't the only high profile Republican dismissing Palin's call for Obama's impeachment. On Wednesday, House Speaker John Boehner also split with the former Alaska governor on the issue.

What other former politicians would voters like to keep quiet?

Fifty-one percent of those questioned said they've heard enough from former Democratic presidential candidate and civil rights leader Jesse Jackson. Forty-five percent said the same thing about former Vice President Dick Cheney, who's been a vocal critic of President Barack Obama.

The poll indicates that 43% said they've heard enough from former House speaker and 2012 GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, a co-host of CNN's "Crossfire," with four in 10 saying the same thing about former Vice President Al Gore, and 32% saying they've heard enough from Gore's old boss Bill Clinton.

The NBC News/Annenberg poll was conducted June 30-July 3 and July 5-7, with 1,137 registered voters nationwide questioned by telephone. The survey's overall sampling error is plus or minus 3.4 percentage points.

" Every single day Fox News is advertising to the entire world that they can sneak across the border and find Nirvana. "

A very good point. Faux's and the GOP/Teatrolls' deliberate misrepresentations, conspiracy theories, misinformation campaigns and reality-denial demagoguery about the availability of government assistance to illegals and how many illegals are actually able to take advantage of these programs actually may have somewhat of a paradoxical and unintended effect: encouraging immigrants to come here illegally. Next time you read a lengthy conservative rant about the evils of immigration and illegals and how they're all getting free stuff left and right, try reading it in a commercial voice-over voice like it's an advertisement from a travel company and you'll see what I mean.

It's funny, because a study just found something similar after researching the effects of the millions and millions of dollars spent by GOP/Teatroll groups for anti-ACA advertising: the data showed correlations that strongly suggest the anti-ACA advertising actually helped increase peoples' awareness and understanding of the ACA and thereby helped INCREASE enrollment.

    @ Lynda
I actually DO think that GOPerville collectively thinks that their non stop swipes (be it his birth certificate, his background, his wife, his political ideologies, his (the list goes on and on) effects him on a emotional level.) Apparently they are themselves so full of low self esteem that they can't understand that not everyone, certainly not the man elected as President of the United States twice, sits and spends valuable time worrying over what the "emotionally insecure" rants about him day after day after day after day after day after day 24/7 X 6 years.
    -----------------------------------------------------
    Beautifully stated post Lynda!
    Yes indeed.
And they would be correct in assuming that a lesser man would in fact be emotionally affected by 6 1/2 years of relentless and irrational obstructing, hating, defaming, and persecuting.
The GOPeeing Teatards have had to come to the conclusion that THIS President is head and shoulders above them and anything and anyone they can throw at him.
God bless our President and our country.

Do you want to give the bride away or shall I volunteer for that honor? The good news is, it WOULD be a bi-partisan affair
    -----––
By all means, you may have the dubious honor!
I'll make sure Rudy doesn't bolt from the altar, and I'll hand over the handcuffs when the preacher says it's time!

High end or casual? Last fancy dress I owned was as Mother of the Bride. That was 15 years ago (I might still get into the dress; but the shoes? Not so much).

I don't know about the bolting... we might be biting off more that we can chew ... Fair might have bolting on her mind, too!

I think that Palin is wonderful. Does that mean that I agree with each and everything she says? There is no one alive that I can say that about. But Palin gets it right most of the time.

survey indicates that 180% of voters say they've heard enough from obama and would prefer that he be less outspoken in political discourse and that he would just resign and leave office

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++

Really? Care to disclose where we can find that so-called "survey" on the internets?

I have a great sense of humor tom, thanks for asking! However, "humor" is subjective, and making $#(+ up isn't so much humorous as it is pathetic, and it must be awful to be so desperate for attention that one needs to resort to such tactics, but thanks for playing!

2/3 rds of Democrats polled have heard enough from Palin. Who would have thunk? How far was this pole tilted with Democrats so they could get to 54%?

Oh tom they're all useless polls. I just gave my opinion as usual. But I think DM is right, I'd like Sarah to keep speaking constantly reminding America of the bullet we dodged. Still got that need to be right all the time?
    =====

Nope. I just like consistency and that is all I have ever talked about here. Be consistent.

As far as your comment about me never having one good thing to say about Obama...so what. Big deal. I didn't have many good things about the person before him either. But I certainly do not have a lack of respect for him. You mistake "respect" for "like". There is a big difference between those 2 words. I just don't agree with most of his policies. I think he was right to change his mind about gay marriage, I agree with him on a woman's right to choose. But he is a staunch supporter of the Patriot Act and his solution to ever issue is more government (similar to Bush). So why would I support issues that I don't agree with?

This and other articles and reporters on cnn describing those as radicals who think Obama violated his oath and the contstitution and should be impeached just show how out of touch and why cnn's ratings are in the toilet. The real radicals are in the white house and you need to start reporting this truth.
