Cruz: Let's repeal ‘every bloody word' of Obamacare

Washington (CNN) – Sen. Ted Cruz on Tuesday forcefully argued that Obamacare is not here to stay and pledged that he would continue working to dismantle the health care law in 2014 and 2016.

“I think those elections should be about many, many things,” the Texas Republican said, listing jobs and growth as examples. “But they should be about repealing every bloody word of Obamacare.”

His remarks came in an address at a Washington conference hosted by the conservative group, Young America's Foundation.

Cruz was a key player in last year’s fight against the law and pushed his colleagues in Congress to try to defund Obamacare ahead of a looming spending deadline. The debate between Republicans and Democrats on the issue eventually resulted in a 16-day government shutdown.

Obamacare continued to roll out on January 1 of this year, despite some major hiccups with its website and some of its key provisions being delayed.

Cruz, who’s considering a presidential campaign, said the opposition he helped lead last year set in motion an effort that will eventually bring the law down.

“Some battles you can win with one clean rifle shot; other battles take time, take building that foundation,” he said. “I’m convinced that fight has laid the foundation.”

A CNN/ORC International Poll released last week indicated that more than half the public believes Obamacare has helped either their families or others across the country, although less than one in five Americans say they have personally benefited from the Affordable Care Act.

Cruz stressed that he’s “working very, very hard to win Senate seats and retire Harry Reid.”

He told the audience that it’s also up to the public to express their discontent with the law.

“If we’re going to repeal Obamacare and I’m convinced we’re going to…it’s going to come from the people saying ‘this thing isn’t working’,” he said.

Ted Cruz, first lead a campaign to take away permanently every Congressman's and every Senator's health care. At both the state and federal level. Then we'll discuss taking it away from the poor.

Cruz – did you pay back the 24 Billion for the government shutdown as yet? What will you replace Obamacare with? The GOP plan which is Die Where We Do Not See You? Is that your delusional answer?

..and replace it with what? The US healthcare system before wasn't working so, someone changed it. The ACA is not without it's faults, but it's better than we had. I'll be all for scrapping the law it you give me a good alternative.

I look at it this way..as long as Cruz is so focused on something that will never happen he can't do a lot of damage elsewhere.

Will Texas re-elect this embarrassment to us all (outside of Texas)? He's up for reelection in 2016. That won't be a good year for GOPT folks. Well, Texas?? Are you as crazy as Cruz is?

Cruz ran for the Senate claiming his father escaped from Communist Cuba. Actually Cruz's father is on record admitting he fought for Fidel Castro and then deserted and bribed his way out of Cuba. In Short, Cruz does not tell the truth
Cruz is backed by Big Oil and is part of the same culture that brought you Dick Cheney and the Republican love of war . Most of the explosives used in war are made of oil derivatives. The big oil companies profit in wartime. They are the force behind the merchants of death.

Please Canada take him back then once he's in your hands put him on a plane to Cuba! Make sure his crazy pastor, my son is the messiah, goes with him.
Let's repeal this horse's behind everything, including revoking his fake US citizenship which he decided to keep now that he thinks the country will lose its collective mind and vote for him as faux president of the US.
His crazy daddy did the same. After decades of living in the US after marrying,. living in Canada and spawning this "thing" he became a US citizen.

This man is scarey. He. ignores the entire country and demands his own personal views only.
He attempts to force his religious beliefs via government. He attacks and disrespects fellow American's.
He encourages existing laws be broken.
He is deeply involved with Koch Bros and seems to be their front man.

How about you do your job, act like a big boy and give a thoughtful adult analysis of the law and what does and does not work instead of spreading hate and misinformation. Nothing but a hate monger!

Delusional. It's been a very long time since the people saying "this thing isn't working" has had any effect whatsoever on lawmakers.
