Cruz: Let's repeal ‘every bloody word' of Obamacare

Washington (CNN) – Sen. Ted Cruz on Tuesday forcefully argued that Obamacare is not here to stay and pledged that he would continue working to dismantle the health care law in 2014 and 2016.

“I think those elections should be about many, many things,” the Texas Republican said, listing jobs and growth as examples. “But they should be about repealing every bloody word of Obamacare.”

His remarks came in an address at a Washington conference hosted by the conservative group, Young America's Foundation.

Cruz was a key player in last year’s fight against the law and pushed his colleagues in Congress to try to defund Obamacare ahead of a looming spending deadline. The debate between Republicans and Democrats on the issue eventually resulted in a 16-day government shutdown.

Obamacare continued to roll out on January 1 of this year, despite some major hiccups with its website and some of its key provisions being delayed.

Cruz, who’s considering a presidential campaign, said the opposition he helped lead last year set in motion an effort that will eventually bring the law down.

“Some battles you can win with one clean rifle shot; other battles take time, take building that foundation,” he said. “I’m convinced that fight has laid the foundation.”

A CNN/ORC International Poll released last week indicated that more than half the public believes Obamacare has helped either their families or others across the country, although less than one in five Americans say they have personally benefited from the Affordable Care Act.

Cruz stressed that he’s “working very, very hard to win Senate seats and retire Harry Reid.”

He told the audience that it’s also up to the public to express their discontent with the law.

“If we’re going to repeal Obamacare and I’m convinced we’re going to…it’s going to come from the people saying ‘this thing isn’t working’,” he said.

Yep, every bloody word. And then vote out of Congress all the slimy Dems who passed it by lies and dirty tricks.

Go away Teddy. Far, far away. And stay there. Oh yeah, and as punishment for your egregious existence, take Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann with you.

Fine. Repeal every bloody word of the Affordable Care Act. But, make sure to attach to the legislation language that repeals EVERY BLOODY DOLLAR of the free health care provided to al the members of Congress at taxpayer expense. Also incude language that prohibits Congress, including ex-members of Congress, from having health care coverage unil they come up with a better plan than Obamacare. Put your money where your hot air is, Senator Cruz.

@Don in albuquerque: "And replace it with what?"

How about replacing it with people actually buying their own insurance? Or paying their own medical bills? There's no Constitutional right to be a parasite.

Replace it with a single-payer system.

Please get some leadership and congressmen and women that have the courage and strength to do just that. You can not be passive to a bully and the behind the doors antics that passed this piece of wording that is in perpetual waivers, exemptions, delay and amendments, even when very few including those that passed it have even read it let alone understand it.

This is a flawed law no doubt. You won't get it repealed though, so do your job and start fixing it.

    @love344
and I bet his relatives in Canada are happily enjoying their state run healthcare... and he has no problem using his healthcare exchange as a senator here in the US..

    Remember what Sarah Palin said:
"We used to hustle over the border for health care we received in Canada. And I think now, isn't that ironic?" –Sarah Palin, admitting that her family used to get treatment in Canada's single-payer health care system, despite having demonized such government-run programs as socialized medicine that will lead to death-panel-like rationing, March 6, 2010

"pledged that he would continue working to dismantle the health care law in 2014 and 2016." Good enough reason not to vote for this out-of-touch idiot.

Fine. Go ahead and repeal “every bloody word” of the Affordable Care Act. BUT, at the same time, repeal EVERY BLOODY DOLLAR of the free health care provided to every member (and former member) of Congress by the taxpayers. AND, as part of the deal, no member of Congress will be permitted to have health care coverage unless and until they pass legislation that is a better idea than Obamacare. As a final requirement, all members of Congress, including ex-members, may only have the same level of coverage and protection, at the same cost, as what is provided in any new legislation for every other American.

Put your money where your mouth is, Senator Windbag.

Canadian here, love you guys but we'd really rather you keep him. He is no longer a Canadian citizen, having renounced his citizenship prior to this run for the Republican nomination.
Sorry guys, his mom is as American as Obama's. Which would of made Obama an American, and eligible for the White House, had he actually been born in Kenya, Canada or Kazakhstan.
We have a nice, clean, polite and stable country up here. We need this blowhard like a hole in the head.

This guy is pathetic, he thinks the US government was trying to punish Israel by not allowing flights into Tel Aviv for two days. What a dingbat. I do think it is interesting that he looks like Joseph McCarthy. He's as loco as that man was.

My friend just quit his job to start his own business, capable of taking the leap because affordable insurance was available via Obamacare...

Mr. Cruz accepts his free government healthcare; yet he would deny us affordable healthcare. Joseph McCarthy was a master of "fear and loathing". Eventually McCarthy hoisted himself on his own petard. Eventually Cruz will do the same.

I challenge anyone here to pick up a phone and call Medicare, an existing government-run healthcare provider, as I routinely had to do on its subrogation lien line (I'm trying to PAY Medicare money). Hold times are as long as 90 minutes. That's government run healthcare. And by the way, why do we need Obamacare if Medicare (for the old) and Medicaid (for the poor) already works so well?

As pathetic as Cruz is, we know he says these things to raise money. I doubt if he even believes the words that come out of his mouth. But as pathetic as he is, imagine the guy who decides to give Cruz money. Now that guy is really an idiot.

“If we’re going to repeal Obamacare and I’m convinced we’re going to…it’s going to come from the people saying ‘this thing isn’t working’,” he said.

Except people arent saying it isnt working, as the most recent poll proves. So Cruz is just another politician with an agenda that doesnt match the wishes of his constituents. So much for representation of the people.

The biggest problem I have with the ACA (AKA Obamacare) is that it brought out the loonies such as Cruz. Recall Cruz and friends and the problems with Obamacare would dramatically diminish.
