Washington (CNN) – Sen. Ted Cruz on Tuesday forcefully argued that Obamacare is not here to stay and pledged that he would continue working to dismantle the health care law in 2014 and 2016.
“I think those elections should be about many, many things,” the Texas Republican said, listing jobs and growth as examples. “But they should be about repealing every bloody word of Obamacare.”

His remarks came in an address at a Washington conference hosted by the conservative group, Young America's Foundation.
Cruz was a key player in last year’s fight against the law and pushed his colleagues in Congress to try to defund Obamacare ahead of a looming spending deadline. The debate between Republicans and Democrats on the issue eventually resulted in a 16-day government shutdown.
Obamacare continued to roll out on January 1 of this year, despite some major hiccups with its website and some of its key provisions being delayed.
Cruz, who’s considering a presidential campaign, said the opposition he helped lead last year set in motion an effort that will eventually bring the law down.
“Some battles you can win with one clean rifle shot; other battles take time, take building that foundation,” he said. “I’m convinced that fight has laid the foundation.”
A CNN/ORC International Poll released last week indicated that more than half the public believes Obamacare has helped either their families or others across the country, although less than one in five Americans say they have personally benefited from the Affordable Care Act.
Cruz stressed that he’s “working very, very hard to win Senate seats and retire Harry Reid.”
He told the audience that it’s also up to the public to express their discontent with the law.
“If we’re going to repeal Obamacare and I’m convinced we’re going to…it’s going to come from the people saying ‘this thing isn’t working’,” he said.
Interesting that Ted "The Canadian" Cruz would use the word "bloody" in his exhortation. That's a Commonwealth obscenity, roughly on a par with the "F" word in the United States. He's revealing his heritage, and it isn't American.
Yeah.... cause the NEXT time, a repeal will work... The 50th? 51st? What's that working definition of insanity again?
Go away Ted... You have NOTHING to offer!
From all appearances, and much to my delight, the GOP cannot muzzle this clown, and the more he talks about taking away people's health insurance, the more people will come out and vote Dem this election. Being from TX, I know it is too much to hope that he will get booted when he is next up for election (which is still a ways off) but as long as he drives blue voters to the polls, that's ok by me.
I was wondering when he would slither out of his hole?
Enjoy your mini vacation Lynda!!☺️☺️☺️I did!!!😊😊😊
.............only 78% of ACA users LOVE their "Obamacare"................That number is made up mostly of low income, low IQ Republicans that rail about government spending while the RED STATES always GET more from the government than they PUT IN.......Go ahead, Cruz.............KILL the ACA,..........and lose your own base............
He needs to look back at Texas. We have over 25 % of the population doesn't have Health insurance and leading the nation for Uninsured.
What Cruz needs to do is bring back all those millions of dollars he is hiding in offshore banks and Canada which he parked there from his Caribbean business venture and pay taxes due. He also filed to closed it in filings with the Senate.
When is everyone going to realize Obamacare does not equal national healthcare. Obamacare = force-fed insurance! There should be plenty of reasons for both left and right wingers to hate this law. Repeal Obamacare and replace with national healthcare. At the very least, repeal it and go back to the way things were. This law has already cost me over 10K. I hate it.
I wake up sorry that that id/ot was elected in Texas every day. He is a megalomaniac, he is the most dangerous man in Washington DC. The way you can tell that is true is because he believes every ignorant thing that comes out of his mouth. I sure hope we can find someone that makes sure he is a one term Senator.
So, Ted, if you get the ACA repealed in its entirety, will you make sure to give everybody who lost their original policies their coverage back at the original premiums? And what about the people who could only get policies through the ACA? Are you going to require the insurance companies to let them keep their policies or will you kick them to the curb?
While you're at it, let's your birth certificate AND your parents' birth certificates, too. And I want to see how much money you get from the insurance companies.
Cruz is going to be the downfall of the Republican party. Wait and see. He will rise up and ruin any hope of them ever leading this country. Why do the Republicans insist on guys and gals like him. This country wants a moderate; not a hell-bent-for-leather, my-way-or-the-highway control freak. Man, I wish an Independent would rise up and garner momentum. I am sick of both parties and what they have done to MY country.
It is really eating away at these tea party idiots that Obamacare is here to stay and that many low income people are
benefiting from it. Now if it were a Republican health plan and the rich were benefiting from it, they would love it.
The taxpayers are paying for his health care, and it is the best money can buy, but he doesn't want the less fortunate to have any health care at all. WAKE UP TEXAS AND DUMP THIS GUY!!!
He never told us how much he made on insider trading when he went short on America , and closed down the government .
GREEN EGS AND HAM
can we deport him back to Canada, so he can try and convince them that they dont want free healthcare
I did not realize he was from Canada. This demogog shows we need to tighten the control of our northern border. At least those crossing to the south want to work constructively.
I think Cruz should be repealed from the Senate, including every word that comes out of his mouth. I have never seen a politician this bad in all my life. Nasty does not describe him, I would say he is illiterate. No wonder moderates like me are tuning out. The law is there, it seems to be helping do something to change it. Wonder what he would have done if Social Security or Medicare would have become the law of the land.
It may not be the perfect solution to the health problems. But there ARE people who needed medical attention and got it under the new laws. And the TRUTH is many are VETERANS who were constantly ignored by VA for making their bonus and vacation time!! And now? Billions of dollars being set up to go to the SAME ONES who sucked the VA system DRY in FIRST PLACE!!! That little FACT is not being told..!
yes, lets reintroduce health care induced bankruptcy for those who have insurance
very smart!!!
The next Joe McCarthy?
Cruz demonstrates the rabid hatred that is gripping the GOP today. They hate anything that is outside their narrow ideology and for political reasons will put even things that their own party espoused outside this fence. There are many things that are good about the law that any rational human being will agree with. Of course, it is not perfect but that is why we pay Congress. To fix things, not to break things.
Never. Gonna. Happen.
@rosaadriana2014
They do not want him (who can blame them).
They plan to repeal with no intention of any replacement. Senator Cruz has his health insurance/health care courtesy of our tax dollars. So he's got his, the rest of us are just out of luck.
Regarding the comment that 296 million Americans have health insurance (Tampax Tim), what fantasy movie did you recently watch??
Kick this fascist fool right out the country.
