House Republicans changing border bill with Cruz-backed measure to appease conservatives

Still struggling to secure the votes to pass their border funding bill, House GOP leaders are discussing a way to add a provision that would bar the President from allowing any more deferments for children of undocumented workers in the U.S. now, according to a senior House GOP aide.

The change to the 2012 Obama administration policy known as "DACA" has been pushed by conservative Sen. Ted Cruz, and a group of House Republicans has also pressed House leaders to add it to their $659 million border measure.

Leaders are working out the mechanics for how the change would be added, but they are expected to allow a separate vote on the provision and then send the language to the Senate.

The White House already issued a veto threat on the House border bill, and Senate Democrats are not expected to take it up. But many rank-and-file Republican worry about going home for the five-week recess without passing something to address the border crisis.

Another election year effort to quickly pass something to look like the House has actually done something. These guys are the most dysfunctional group of politicians ever assembled in any country. They should be ashamed to accept their paycheck each month. Oh, excuse me for thinking they had enough moral fiber to know what the word shame means.

Dose anybody remember when Ted Cruz read us Green Eggs and Ham , while his two little girls watched there daddy on CSPAN from there home in Houston . Then Ted shut down the government and blamed it on the President . And when he was asked if he profited financially , directly or indirectly in any way in regards to the shutdown , he didn't answer .

I believe he has family in the financial market ?

Why are Liberals/Dems supporting Obama's blatant aiding and abetting of criminal immigrants? Didn't these criminal immigrants illegally cross the border, breaking US immigration law?

You want to stop this invasion and deport the illegals in this country while creating jobs?

Pass a bill authorizing payment of $100. a head to capture illegals and deliver them to deportation facilities. Create new bounty hunter jobs for US citizen. You must have real US birth certificate, driver license and right to carry permit to apply.

  16. Hector Slagg

As of now, it would appear, that all these illegals are not going to be sent back and will be thrust on the U.S. Taxpayer. The Problems all these illegals are going to have the rest of their lives if they are allowed to stay will be as bad as they were in their own country. The American people are not going to grant citizenship to this bunch along with the 11 million or so that are already here.

There goes Rafael interfering with House matters once again. They won't pass anything before the recess. $659 million compared $3 billion goes to show you how serious republicans are about addressing the problem.

They should be worried. If they cannot reign in an unbridled President, he will decree the borders open as soon as they leave town.

Obama still has to sign it good luck with that. Are the GOP that stupid to think that Obama will sign anything after what they have done to him since being POTUS. GOP have a short memory but Obama I don't think so. One term Potus, will not work with him, repealing ACA, hello anybody home for the GOP doubt it. What makes it worst is that Americans are listening to a Canadian born politician who couldn't care a less about them.

Are there any "rank and file" Republicans left? The House is so screwed up, they are suing the President because they cannot do thier jobs and are mad because when they said, "It's my ball and I'm not playing". The President said, "I have my own ball" and did what was right for the country. GW Bush used Executive Orders more than Obama. Just do your job, House of Representatives....
