Rick Santorum set to travel to Israel

(CNN) - Rick Santorum is heading to Israel.

The former senator from Pennsylvania and 2012 presidential candidate leaves Sunday for a three-day trip with a delegation of conservative and religious leaders, according to his group, Patriot Voices.

His travel will likely further stoke speculation of his interest in another White House bid. The Middle East tends to be a popular travel spot for presidential candidates hoping to boost their foreign policy credentials.

According to a press release with details of the trip, Santorum will mostly be in Jerusalem and is set to visit an Iron Dome facility. He's also scheduled to meet with government and military leaders, as well as Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Ron Dermer.

The delegation includes Bob Vander Plaats, president of The Family Leader, a social conservative group in Iowa, and Foster Friess, a wealthy conservative donor who backed Santorum's 2012 presidential run.

In addition to Iowa, others in the delegation hail from South Carolina, Florida, Michigan, Alabama and Wyoming.

Ayatollah Santorum will make the mandatory trip to Israel like all presidential hopefuls do. Blah blah blah. Doesn't Foster Friess sound like a name straight out of D.C. Comics?

The Pope is headed to Israel. Will they ordain him or at least anoint him??

It's hilarious him thinking he even has a shot at the WH. Didn't he lose his own state in 2012 to Mitt? Another piece of proof that every white male in America thinks they can be POTUS now that a black man is. 😊😊😊

Rick, if you want to wear the mantle of CHRISTIAN, it's the NEW Testament, the Four Gospels specifically, that you should concentrate on. That is where the Words of the Father were spoken by Jesus & transcribed in the Greek, an exact language, on how we should treat each other here on Earth.
WARNING:You may discover, as have Sara Palin & other Conservatives, that this Message can be LABELED Liberal & is very hard to follow, Repub. & Dem. alike.

@ Fair, we seem to be on the same wavelength today. Who cares about Santorum, and how many other politicians/ political figures have names out of DC comics?

Because of my work schedule, I don't often watch the evening news... the other day, however, I was tuned in and there was a story on the plight of those people in Iraq being slaughtered by ISIS... it kind of ripped my heart out, threw it on the ground, and stomped on it a few times for good measure. So yeah, Rick Santorum and medical marijuana in FL are pretty low on my "to worry about" list.

The author misused the word "conservative" yet again. The author should have used "republican" instead. Because since WHEN has a republican EVER been a conservative!

Oh yeah and there are no Dems that are liberal. If all these conservatives are not in the GOP, where are they? Is this the TP that keeps losing primaries to the GOP?

So a religious guy who wants to see our country turn into a theocracy is visiting a country with a state religion who is at violent odds with local theocratic neighbor countries.

I have a thought: Why don't all the holier-than-thou religious purity people all get together on an island and beat each other into peanut butter and leave the Free Adults alone.

Rick Santorum is amusing. Sonny Chapman – I agree with you. New Testament = Love thy neighbor as thyself. Far right extremists = Love only those who are EXACTLY like you, and to blazes with everyone else - this includes our Israeli friends who refuse to convert to Christianity during the second coming.

Washington is pathetic - just another politician shamelessly kissing up to the AIPAC and to other criminal cartels. Hillary is no better!

Indeed it is a popular travel spot for presidential candidates. Perhaps I wasn't paying enough attention to Rick Santorum in 2012. Did he not already visit Israel during that first presidential campaign of his?

Why? To slip them our credit card? Why was there no outrage by congress over Netanyahu's anti American ads he had his Ministry of Immigration Absorption put out? In them, he urged Israelis to not marry Americans or mix blood with them. They urged Jewish Americans to not let their children become Americanized in any way or celebrate Christmas, ETC.... Not a peep from our media or congress .Thankfully, Jewish Americans raised a fuss and forced him to pull the ads.Our media and congress were too afraid of being called anti Semite to say anything. Can you imagine the uproar if the US government put out ads like that? Israel does not like us, they like our money and expect us to support them. Last week Netanyahu pretty much said shut up and mind your own business, US. BTW, I need another 500 million for missiles .How soon can I expect it? .. A few years ago their ex prime minister, Lieberman , boasted to the press that the US will back and support any decision or action Israel makes. Our leaders have pledged their blind alligence to a country other than their own.
