Perry slams Obama during New Hampshire appearances

(CNN) - Libya. Egypt. Israel. Syria. Ukraine. Iraq.
Rick Perry ticked the countries off one-by-one, his list of what he terms President Barack Obama’s foreign policy failures.

Speaking at a rally for New Hampshire Republican activists, the Texas governor touched on the execution of journalist and Granite State native James Foley at the hands of the Islamic extremist group ISIS.

“Our hearts are heavy today, because of a young man from Rochester. A hero. A man who stood in the gap to reveal the evil that ISIS is all about,” said the potential presidential candidate.

Perry also referred to the “red line” Obama said he drew in 2012 if Syrian President Bashar al-Assad used chemical weapons in his country’s civil war.

Assad did use the weapons but Obama backed down from potential military action after the U.S. and Russia brokered a deal to rid Syria of its chemical weapons.

Perry said that lack of action is something the world will remember.

“When a president draws a red line that means nothing, the world takes notice. When a president’s word means nothing, our adversaries are emboldened and our allies are endangered,” Perry said.

On the topic of ISIS, Perry found a way to tie the issue to a place closer to his home, the U.S.-Mexican border.

Perry has been a staunch critic of the Obama administration for what he says is a lack of comprehensive action to deal with border security issues. To that end, Perry said Obama’s domestic policy failures are tied together with his foreign policy ones.

“Anyone who thinks a porous border does not represent a tremendous opportunity for global terrorist groups to inflict harm on the American people is profoundly naïve,” Perry said.

“National security starts at the border and we have enormous exposure because the border is not secured.”

Perry also criticized Obama for his handling of the economy.

“When we think about where we find ourselves today, economically, with the millions of Americans that are being forced to go on food stamps. The millions of Americans that have just given up hope to even find a job, they’re not even counted anymore, because of the policies of this president. “

Perry was introduced to the crowd by former New Hampshire governor John H. Sununu, who brushed aside Perry’s recent indictment on charges of abuse of power and coercion.

“The Democrats are desperate, they’re taking every potential good Republican candidate and coming in with all kinds of distortions.

“They tried to do it to Chris Christie in New Jersey. They tried to do it to Scott Walker in Wisconsin,” he said. “But one place they made a big mistake is trying to do it in Texas. “

The rally was the first stop on the second and final day of Perry’s trip to the state. This is the first time that Perry’s visited New Hampshire since his failed bid to win the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.

At an event on Friday, Perry said he hadn’t decided whether he was going to run again, but that recent trips to Iowa and South Carolina were meant to lay the groundwork in case he did decide to do so.

Lizzie – The Kochs have spent over $1 billion to lie about ACA. It appears that it won't take a lot of money to beat the republican clown show. Your prediction about becoming a SLAVE of the government is right wing idiocy.

Chris – Certain parts of Alabama do not get real media, only Fox lies. Hannity will be proud of you for being so wrong.

Ego, don't confuse Lizzie with facts. Besides....don't you think it would be kinda entertaining to watch them build a wall down the middle of the Rio Grande? Maybe we could call Moses back ( or if we can't get him maybe Charlton Heston) to part the waters and make it a whole lot easier.

Unlike Jerry Brown who doesn't give a crap about the citizens of California Texas is extremely lucky to have Perry....I'm scared to death to live where I do now. Brown and Obama both need to be arrested.

Great demonstration of logic. The GOP is incoherent and criminal-but the Democrats should be arrested. For what, genius? Doing their jobs?!

Oh, yeah, right? How's this? The biggest "oops" for the Right is doing absolutely nothing for 6 years- except cry, whine and lie? They certainly don't do what they are supposed to- like fix the 8 years of Bush disaster.

Republican's "oops" : government shut down, government obstruction, credit down grades, unnecessary wars, record job loss, 9-11-01, Great Recession, Georgia, North Korea, Iran, tax cuts for those who did not need it, attacks on women's rights, failed attempts to repeal ACA, Bush Doctrine, VA, suing the President, John Boehner, Steve King, Louie Gomert, corrupt republican governors, and so much more.

Funny, I can't think of one single thing constructive the GOP has done in 6 years- in fact, pretty much anything they have done has been destructive- taking civil rights, voting rights, budget over-runs, government shut downs- and basically all 8 years of the Bush disaster.
Really? They want us to believe the Democrats are the problem? The GOP has lost it's freakin' mind.

Gunnysack – In the first year after passing ACA, the Kochs spent over $800 million firing up the brain dead against ACA. They are still running ads in FL. Did you ever think that some of that debt may be from republicans unfunded wars, tax cuts, unfunded drug programs, government shutdowns, Bush's record deficits year after year? You are a true RWNJ, you always blame everyone else for republican failure.

No you fool. Cutting the Koch brothers (and the rich's) taxes cost the U.S. $1 trillion a year. I don't blame the Kochs for that, I blame the idiotic GOP.

@ bpster, CA is doing fine thanks to Brown. Texas, on the other hand, is everything that is wrong with this country.
Chemical plants blowing up thanks to no regulation and killing innocent inmates is what this oops governor is all about.
Now that he is a criminal himself he might change his mind.

  23. American voters: "Stop doing stupid things"!!

Like electing inexperienced empty suited community organizers for the most difficult job in the world. Just because somebody can give a good teleprompter speech for of grandiose BS doesn't mean he is a leader. In 6 years the only thing Obama has led is his foursome to the first tee hundreds of times while the country and the world burn.

So yes American voters: "Stop doing stupid things"!!

Oh, I dunno, reality maybe? If the GOP is so great, why do they do nothing? Why did they shutdown the government? Why won't the clean up their disaster from the Bush era?
Denying reality is a sign of psychosis- and that is a serious GOP problem.
