Perry slams Obama during New Hampshire appearances

(CNN) - Libya. Egypt. Israel. Syria. Ukraine. Iraq.
Rick Perry ticked the countries off one-by-one, his list of what he terms President Barack Obama’s foreign policy failures.

Speaking at a rally for New Hampshire Republican activists, the Texas governor touched on the execution of journalist and Granite State native James Foley at the hands of the Islamic extremist group ISIS.

“Our hearts are heavy today, because of a young man from Rochester. A hero. A man who stood in the gap to reveal the evil that ISIS is all about,” said the potential presidential candidate.

Perry also referred to the “red line” Obama said he drew in 2012 if Syrian President Bashar al-Assad used chemical weapons in his country’s civil war.

Assad did use the weapons but Obama backed down from potential military action after the U.S. and Russia brokered a deal to rid Syria of its chemical weapons.

Perry said that lack of action is something the world will remember.

“When a president draws a red line that means nothing, the world takes notice. When a president’s word means nothing, our adversaries are emboldened and our allies are endangered,” Perry said.

On the topic of ISIS, Perry found a way to tie the issue to a place closer to his home, the U.S.-Mexican border.

Perry has been a staunch critic of the Obama administration for what he says is a lack of comprehensive action to deal with border security issues. To that end, Perry said Obama’s domestic policy failures are tied together with his foreign policy ones.

“Anyone who thinks a porous border does not represent a tremendous opportunity for global terrorist groups to inflict harm on the American people is profoundly naïve,” Perry said.

“National security starts at the border and we have enormous exposure because the border is not secured.”

Perry also criticized Obama for his handling of the economy.

“When we think about where we find ourselves today, economically, with the millions of Americans that are being forced to go on food stamps. The millions of Americans that have just given up hope to even find a job, they’re not even counted anymore, because of the policies of this president. “

Perry was introduced to the crowd by former New Hampshire governor John H. Sununu, who brushed aside Perry’s recent indictment on charges of abuse of power and coercion.

“The Democrats are desperate, they’re taking every potential good Republican candidate and coming in with all kinds of distortions.

“They tried to do it to Chris Christie in New Jersey. They tried to do it to Scott Walker in Wisconsin,” he said. “But one place they made a big mistake is trying to do it in Texas. “

The rally was the first stop on the second and final day of Perry’s trip to the state. This is the first time that Perry’s visited New Hampshire since his failed bid to win the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.

At an event on Friday, Perry said he hadn’t decided whether he was going to run again, but that recent trips to Iowa and South Carolina were meant to lay the groundwork in case he did decide to do so.

Face it Gunderson- you love Putin. He is the ultimate Republican.

not as much as obama loves putin. "tell vlaidmir i can be more flexible after the election" as he slaps the knee of the russian president. obama has given putin everything he ever wanted and for free. all that was missing was a big wet kiss from obama. maybe he was waiting until after the election for that?

I'd be interested in hearing Perry's solution to what he perceives as Obama's mistakes! Perhaps a fence all around the whole country, or better yet a dome like that Stephen King movie! If anyone would propose such madness it would be Goodhair, he lives in his own alternate universe

Look at all the republican's comments. Seriously, these people are out of their minds. Completely devoid of reason and facts. They just rant and rant like the racist, misogynist war mongers we know then to be. Seriously, read the comments. The GOP is a direct threat to the US.

  10. Grow up already...

Rick P... What are you doing up north in NH? Shouldn't you be down guarding the Texas border from the ISIS illegals sneaking across our border? If you suspect this is happening and are doing nothing about it, you must be with the terrorists!

Rick Perry is a pawn of the Koch brothers ($450 billion each and refuse to pay one dime more in taxes) as is Randy Paul, etc. They can spend $50 million each election to demean Obama and how is that patriotic? I cannot believe the republican lies because I remember Richard Nixon and his lies of Watergate, Vietnaim and Bush/Cheney's lies of WMD......and don't forget Reagon's trickle down economy which failed miserably....As a woman who works two jobs, I will never vote republican!

  17. Are you kidding me?

Here is a man who says Isis is coming across the border with no facts to back it up. If it was so important shouldn't he be in Texas standing at the border do some actual work?

    What a joke.
