Clinton ignores questions on Ferguson

Westhampton Beach, New York (CNN) - Hillary Clinton, who has yet to comment about the protests over the death of an unarmed black teenager in Ferguson, Missouri, ignored questions about the incident on Sunday.

After signing more than 700 books at Books & Books in Westhampton Beach, Clinton was asked by two reporters for her reaction to the controversy.

Clinton ignored both questions and left the bookstore.

Liberal activists and civil rights leaders have asked Clinton for her response, saying she is the presumed front-runner for her party's presidential nomination in 2016 and that she has commented on major news stories in the past.

Michael Brown was shot dead earlier this month by a Missouri police officer. The shooting sparked large protests in the St. Louis suburb, which were highlighted by looting and a sizable police presence.

Attorney General Eric Holder visited Ferguson last week to check in on the federal civil rights investigation into the shooting, and President Barack Obama's White House has begun to look into the equipment the federal government provides to police forces.

At a rally earlier this month about the killing, Rev. Al Sharpton, a civil rights leader and host on MSNBC, said, "Jeb Bush, Hillary Clinton, don’t get laryngitis on this issue."

He then added, "Nobody can go to the White House unless they stop by our house and talk about policing."

Clinton was well received in the tony New York beach town. Countless attendees urged her to run for president and some even demanded that she do so.

"You've gotta run," said one woman. "I want to vote for you." Another tried guilt, telling Clinton that voting for her was on her bucket list. "You can't deny me of that, right," she added.

Clinton also slightly tipped her hand on running a few times.

When one man said his brother was her youngest canvasser during her failed 2008 bid, Clinton respond with a smile, "Keep up your strength."

Another man asked Clinton for her campaign contact, to which the former first lady replied, "Oh, I don't have a campaign yet."

Two attendees offered mild protest to the former secretary of state. One asked a question about the United States' role in Iran and another said he disapproved of the way Clinton handled the Arab Spring.

In the latter case, Clinton urged the man to read her book.

Black people in America should remember how Hillary Clinton used Minister Farrakhan as a test for Barak Obama. Anybody who is black and running for office has to pass the Farrakhan test...I am itching for a chance to defend the only black man worth defending who has offered his very life to see us get freedom justice and equlaity in this country. I am with Farrakhan till the end. He is God's man on the scene and you all should listen. America is about to experience some horrific weather events in Los Angeles and Chicago. WATCH THE WEATHER PEOPLE.

"Are you kidding me, according to surveillance cameras, he committed a strong armed robbery and threatened the clerk, who was about a third of his size. "

Oh come on...don't be shy...finish your's not like we don't know the rest of your thoughts: "and therefore that big black thug deserved to die unarmed with his hands up, shot 6+ times, twice in the head, by a trigger happy cop who hadn't even stopped him for the shoplifting." We know what you guys really think.

Poor black kid shoplifts = life is forfeit, can be shot like an animal.

White rich kid gets hammered and plows over a family of 4 in a truck, killing and maiming them = "Affluenza".

As a registered voter, democrat and African American, I would NEVER vote for Hilary Clinton. I urge other blacks to NOT ever vote for her. Remember the Robert Kennedy assassination comment? I would vote for Mickey Mouse before this woman. So Mrs Clinton, you can ignore Ferguson all you want, I hope blacks in this country do not ever vote for you.

She must not have enough polling data back to make a decision. Another that will lead from behind – or perhaps not at all.

Neither the Democrats nor the Republicans are offering a candidate who is worth my vote in 2016. I hope someone comes forward to take up the slack, or we're doomed to 4 more years of maundering governance.

A leader don't dodge the hard questions.
I agree. Now tell that to Rand "Bite and Run" Paul when an immigration question came up. Tell that to Chris Christie who punted on the Ferguson conversation. Tell that to Rick Perry who has been rewriting the facts when it comes to his recent indictment charges on abuse of power by blaming Democrats for charges filed against him by Republicans.

"It shows that Hillary is not going to be transparent on everything."

Or maybe she was at a book signing and trying to market her book to people and didn't want it shoved off the rails by a couple of jackhole reporters trying to ambush her with questions designed to do nothing but stir up red meat nontroversy.

Paul Ryan ran from questions about immigration and deportation at a book signing this weekend. We won't hear you RWNJs yammering about his lack of transparency or refusal to take a position on "conviction" though (IOKIYAR). Fact is, I think he's totally wrong on immigration, but I can't blame him for not wanting his book signing to be hijacked by people trying to put him on the spot. Is it fun to watch when people do that to these politicians? Yep, sure is. Can you really blame them for trying to stay focused on the event they're attending and not letting it get sidetracked or overshadowed by some nontroversy moment? Not really.

Who really cares about Ferguson? A thug, who had 5 felonies pending, assualted a store owner, robbed him, then assaulted a police officer and was killed for it.
What is there to talk about? To say that this is a "matter of race" is simply obtuse. If you want to talk about racial issues, then why don't we discuss the 20+ black-on-black murders that happen every day in a single city?

"or if the cop was beat up so bad he couldn't even aim.

LOL! There's zero evidence to support that. Is that the new RWNJ tinfoil hatted theory making the rounds? Should we expect to see more Teatroll parrots who spend their time hardwired to World Net Daily and Breitbart spouting that one?

I understand that republicans are launching an early "Impeach Hillary" campaign based on her refusal to answer questions that they won't answer.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know the name of the store owner who was bullied and had his store robbed? And why was his store looted? It appears there was more than one victim. I don't absolve the police in their actions but has any black leader come to the defense of the store owner and has the family offered to pay back the store owner for his losses?

Just wondering but its a shame every one has forgotten how this incident began.

You're going to be very disappointed. So will the Rovian morons in the GOP/Teatrolls who think they can convince the black community to feel resentment towards her with silly arguments like yours.

"Just wondering but its a shame every one has forgotten how this incident began."

The shoplifting is NOT how it began. The officer who stopped them did not even know about it when he confronted them and it wasn't the reason he did so. That's not even remotely in dispute, so trying to make this about the shoplifting is a LIE. However, I will note that the RWNJs' attempts to do so, as if it justifies how Brown was killed, are just doing more damage to the GOP/Teatrolls with the minority please, by all means, proceed....

Meanwhile, back at the 'librul media farm all the little nutjobs have gathered in the name of Black folks to tell them NOT to vote for Hillary because she's not yet addresse the Ferguson question, or because, because, because...
The Republicons do not have anybody that can go up against HIll so they are doing their usual "I-ain't-got-crap" dance by shooting down those that have something to bring to the table.

" please, by all means, proceed"

Its obvious you refuse to answer all of my concerns. A store robbery by a violent person has to be talked about in this context, something the black community and its supporters will not discuss. Why isn't it relevant, should it be swept under the rug? It was caught on video! Why would a black person who was about to enter college commit a crime of this nature? Sorry, but that's another question, hope I don't make it to confusing for you?

Of course she didn't answer - she's waiting for the whole issue to be settled so she can side with what "history" judges to be the right position.

I give her credit for not being pulled into something that is: 1. Not her job., 2. The investigation is not over., 3. She has no power to do anything about. Once again where is the Black leaders on the Black on Black crime which is 95% of Black killings??? This is not a question about grief, it is a story blown out of proportion by the Media fanning the flames of disobedience. The kid will be found at fault!!!
