Clinton ignores questions on Ferguson

Westhampton Beach, New York (CNN) - Hillary Clinton, who has yet to comment about the protests over the death of an unarmed black teenager in Ferguson, Missouri, ignored questions about the incident on Sunday.

After signing more than 700 books at Books & Books in Westhampton Beach, Clinton was asked by two reporters for her reaction to the controversy.

Clinton ignored both questions and left the bookstore.

Liberal activists and civil rights leaders have asked Clinton for her response, saying she is the presumed front-runner for her party's presidential nomination in 2016 and that she has commented on major news stories in the past.

Michael Brown was shot dead earlier this month by a Missouri police officer. The shooting sparked large protests in the St. Louis suburb, which were highlighted by looting and a sizable police presence.

Attorney General Eric Holder visited Ferguson last week to check in on the federal civil rights investigation into the shooting, and President Barack Obama's White House has begun to look into the equipment the federal government provides to police forces.

At a rally earlier this month about the killing, Rev. Al Sharpton, a civil rights leader and host on MSNBC, said, "Jeb Bush, Hillary Clinton, don’t get laryngitis on this issue."

He then added, "Nobody can go to the White House unless they stop by our house and talk about policing."

Clinton was well received in the tony New York beach town. Countless attendees urged her to run for president and some even demanded that she do so.

"You've gotta run," said one woman. "I want to vote for you." Another tried guilt, telling Clinton that voting for her was on her bucket list. "You can't deny me of that, right," she added.

Clinton also slightly tipped her hand on running a few times.

When one man said his brother was her youngest canvasser during her failed 2008 bid, Clinton respond with a smile, "Keep up your strength."

Another man asked Clinton for her campaign contact, to which the former first lady replied, "Oh, I don't have a campaign yet."

Two attendees offered mild protest to the former secretary of state. One asked a question about the United States' role in Iran and another said he disapproved of the way Clinton handled the Arab Spring.

In the latter case, Clinton urged the man to read her book.

She's smart to ignore the questions. There are too many unknowns with that situation and what a lot of these people asking these questions are really saying "Join us in condemning the police." Especially the Al Sharptons of world.

If it does indeed turn out that Brown did not assault the officer and then shortly after starting to walk away turn around and charge him (which it's sounding more and more likely that's what actually happened) then the shooting will be justified and the officer will not be charged. What then? You people condemned an officer for doing nothing but protecting himself from a felonious assault while attempting to take a lawful action.

On the other hand, if it turns out that the officer wasn't assaulted and Brown wasn't charging him then the officer will be charged accordingly as he should be.

Clinton is the only smart one out there. She knows that you can't take a stand on the issue until all the evidence is in. People are SICK of the pandering of politicans to 12% of the population. Has anyone noticed that the 1st donation page for the officer was DOUBLE that of the Brown page? That should tell you something. They had to close that page down because the blacks found vault with it. Now they have a new page and it has already raised over $120.00 in 3 days. What does that tell you? Whites are sick of the pandering and Clinton knows it. She wants to give a viewpoint on the facts only. (Which all haven't come in)

In 1968 Richard Nixon adopted the Republican "Southern Strategy." It was designed to attract the millions of white supremacists in the Old Confederacy, the former slave territories and the Western States settled by Southerners and make good Republicans of them. History shows it worked.
The Red States map is the map of these states. The code words, "States rights" and "Constitutional rights" are the same code words used by the South to defeat Civil Rights legislation, including anti lynching legislation right through the mid 20th century.
Ironically, it is now the party of Lincoln that supports the aims of these white supremacists. That is the real message just under the surface of Republican hate radio.
Most minority voters are aware of this. Blacks and Hispanics rarely vote Republican for this reason. They know that the Republican Party is a party of old white racist men who hate and exploit racial and ethnic minorities

So in other words, she's being smart and waiting for all the information to come out and the investigation to be complete before she makes a statement and isn't playing the racial card but the justice card. Good for her.

We elected one loser only because of his race. Let us not make the same mistake and elect another loser because of her sex.

Oh so now Sharpton has a little pep in his step because he thinks he mayor of NYC?
Well here's the news flash. We can't have anarchy in the USA. We can't have criminals runny the show.
No matter how many hand up don't shoot Al wants to say, if you pull the police out of these high crime areas, they will end up,like Congo or Liberia.
With police presence crimes are high in these area Sharpton barks about. Go ahead, stop policing see what happens.

    Here's a new slogan:
Don't commit crimes, don't get shot.

Go ahead and vote for the first woman president. Just because she is a woman. You see the situation we are in now because that is what happened last election too. This country will definitely fall apart with her at the wheel.

A person with political interest not rushing to provide a response, well someone is Machiavellian, or just waiting for the FACTS to come out. Sorry liberals, the dead Felon wasn't an angel and his parents obviously did a terrible job.

The sentence "Michael Brown was shot dead earlier this month by a Missouri police officer" needs to be corrected. It should read "Michael brown died after being shot by the police officer he assaulted."

    Good for you HIllary,

There's no good reason why everybody has to shoot their mouth off before all the fact are in. If reporters don't like it, they can go....

With all due respect to the media, who feel entitled to have any question they ask any individual answered, Clinton doesn't owe them anything. If and when she becomes an official candidate for President, then she is absolutely obligated to answer these questions. Until then, she is a private citizen and there she has no obligation to answer anything the media feels like asking her.

Why does she have to comment? It is an ongoing investigation, so let the investigators do their work and make comments after all is said and done, if at all.

Excellent example for other politicians. Rather than adding more fire to the circus created by the media and by the regular race pandering gigolos it's better to wait for the results of the investigation.

If she says yes, then every Repukican will say she should have said no.
If she says no, then every Repukican will say she should have said yes.
No matter, WHEN she is elected President, we can look forward to 4-8 more years of a Conserivomit Congress blocking every move, condemning every opinion and keeping her-and the rest of the country like some banana republic.
