Foley killer featured in Republican campaign ad

(CNN) — The masked man appears briefly, for only a frame or two, but it’s startling nonetheless.

The not-yet-identified killer of kidnapped American photographer James Foley is featured in an ominous and risky campaign ad released Monday by New Mexico’s Republican nominee for Senate, Allen Weh, the underdog challenger to first-term Democratic Senator Tom Udall.

Weh, a Marine combat veteran and onetime New Mexico Republican Party Chairman, appears to be the first candidate this cycle to use Foley’s gruesome execution as campaign fodder, portraying the murder as one consequence of a rudderless American foreign policy mismanaged by President Obama and Udall.

Foley himself is cropped out of the web video, leaving only the stark image of the black-clad jihadist, clutching a blade in the Syrian desert.

That picture is on screen for barely two seconds second and then fades quickly into a cascade of dark Middle East scenery — including ISIS militants in Iraq and the bombing of mosques — all of it intercut with video of Obama playing golf and vacationing on Martha’s Vineyard.

“To change Washington, you must change your Senator,” reads a banner at the conclusion of the ad, titled “Restore Leadership.”

Udall leads Weh by double digits in recent polling and is considered safe in his re-election bid with just over two months until Election Day.

Complete Coverage: 2014 Midterm Elections

Despite its former swing state status and a Republican governor in office, New Mexico has drifted Democratic in federal elections over the last decade, thanks in part to its growing Hispanic population.

Is there a level of fear-mongering that the far right will not go? Apparently not. No class, no taste, and no honor in pushing junk like that. One hopes that someday in the future the GOP will find another way besides fear and hate to motivate voters.

Bad taste. Plenty of other ways to make a point about Obama and Udall`s foreign policy.

Don't blame Obama. Starting the war in Iraq by GW Bush was the start of the colaps of the Midle East.
History will learn that this is true. The USA supported first Sadam Hussein in the war against Iran, supported Taliban against Russia and supported Isis against Assad. So the USA constantly fights against her own weapons.

I have not seen it. But there is a line that should never be crossed. The milking of a Mr Browns death by those wanting to continue causing trouble. This about here on this blog. It makes one sick at stomach to see or hear about these low attempts just to get a vote. Or a mention in news. The mans family is still in shock about it. Mr Browns family is burying him today. But the stirring of the crud will continue. But people will do anything to get elected.

Breaking News!!! Republicans use the death of an American for their own political gain!!

We aren't surprised by the lack of decency among these Neo-Cons. Every time an American dies overseas, you can hear the Neo-Cons rubbing their hands together, trying to figure out how they can milk it for their own benefit. They are almost giddy about it.

I don't know about anybody else on here, but I love being scared and intimidated into voting a certain way. That's it! I'm switching! Who's got a Republican party registration form handy?

    Really???

Apparently it worked well. It got the attention of the Liberal CNN channel and all of you. It puts in stark reality the damage this inexperienced Community Organizer has done.
Wonder what his best golf score was? Thought you all would want to change the subject at this point.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++

Don't see what the President's golf score has to do with anything. Unlike the previous occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue who held a press conference WHILE ON THE GOLF COURSE, President Obama spoke with the media in an appropriate setting WHILE he was on vacation, then headed to a planned event while the media followed along like a bunch of puppies. And at least it wasn't the American media shooting at the hotel where the journalists were staying as ALSO happened during the the previous occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue's eight-year reign of error

The only thing that actually shocks me about it is that, in light of him being a whackjob demagogue islamaphobe Teatroll loon, I would have expected he'd just photoshop Obama's head onto the executioner's body.

I bet he would have loved to, but that might have been going a little too far..... Maybe.

You don't need one if you're white, wealthy and angry and/or fearful to the point of all-consuming irrationality. Carefully making sure of registration is only for "them."

I read this morning where ISIS just overran a Syrian airfield killing 150 Syrian soldiers and capturing 170 others. Contrary to Obama's previous characterization of ISIS being a terrorist junior varsity team, they are considerably more capable than the groups we have dealt with in the past. This point was reinforced last week by Defense Secretary Hagel and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. When members of the Obama Administration are sounding the warning about ISIS, we had better start taking the threat very seriously.

Just when you think republicants have reached the bottom of the barrel, they lift up the barrel and find even more disgusting things!

My apology to disgusting things under the barrel, even they aren't as low as republicants.

It's always funny to read the usual BS written by the GOPT klan. They talk about the POTUS golfing. The funniest part of that is I just watched a documentary on the History channel that said St. Ronnie refused to cut his vacation short during a crisis. Refused! Can you imagine if this POTUS were to refuse to cut his vacation short? He would be impeached before he even made it back to DC. Yet St. Ronnie has all but been canonized by these same traitors.

    You people are so funny.

Obviously, you think that mistakes have been made. Well, what are they? Be sure to tell us what the correct course of action should have been, too, particularly if you think mistakes were made in Syria.

  23. GOP = Greed Over People

The GOP has used the coffins of young Americans to make a buck for the war machine and to fuel their agenda, for decades.

Nothing new, other than now they are not trying to hide the fact, that power and money, mean more to them than the death of one or many Americans!

Holy Vapor Lock, Batman! Really, from the party of one Mr. G.W. Bush who felt President Clinton was "too obsessed" with al Qaeda, and so not only let 9/11 happen, but then "didn't much care" where Osama bin Laden was?

Has it occurred to you that perhaps if Mr. Bush hadn't cracked open Pandora's Box with his big Middle Eastern Adventure we wouldn't be dealing with the Islamic State or Iraq right now?

Logic folks. Perhaps the only people out there who did a far, far, worse job of handling Iraq historically is the GOP. That they now choose to fundraise off of the CF they made of Iraq shows their complete lack of moral compass, and foreign relations credentials.
