McConnell: 'Remember me? I am the guy that gets us out of shutdowns'

(CNN) - In his strongest words to date, Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, tried to quash talk that he would allow another government shutdown if he becomes Senate majority leader next year.

"Of course not. Remember me? I am the guy that gets us out of shutdowns," McConnell told CNN in an exclusive interview Wednesday.

"It's a failed policy," he said of shutdowns.

Whatta jerk! He's responsible for Congress treating Obama as a temporary nuisance they would be rid of in 1 term & certainly helped Congress earn the title 'most do-nothing Congress in US history'! Also, his negotiations seemed more like a hostage situation! He got what he wanted! If he thinks this is a glowing accomplishment, he's deluded! Like most of the old, white men of the GOTP who can't stand having a Black man as his boss! That's why they're leaving it to the T in their party to do all the 'heavy lifting', like letting T. Cruz promote & execute the shut-down! Hypocritters, all of them!!

Shut downs will continue to happen unless establishment Republican politicians stand up to Sen Ted Cruz and his fellow Tea Party bullies in both the House and Senate.

    "Of course not. Remember me?"

Well of course we remember Mitch McConnell. He is one of many now sitting in Congress that I truly wish would become nothing more than a disagreeable memory of what CAN go wrong DOES go wrong.

Mitch has made many, many promises he did not keep ... least of which is helping his fellow citizens. Though he has continued to bask in the glory of that pat position of his and reap its benefits to HIM year after year.

Can Order Come Out of Chaos, if the Chaos was created to destroy that order? Republican leadership brings chaos to order and then pretend to ride in at the very last moment on a dirty white horse with the solution . . . 🙁

    @old age voter
"Mitch McConnell stop talking; it's a known fact that the current Senate majority leader Harry Reid and president Obama are the ones that shutdown the government. It's comforting knowing Harry Reid won't hold that position much longer."

If by 'fact' you mean completely made up boolsheet... learn to read, it is right there in this article you are commenting on....
"McConnell opposed the last shutdown, fueled by a strategy from his fellow Republican Ted Cruz, R-Texas, to only fund the government by defunding Obamacare, which passed the GOP-led House but had no chance in the Senate. The shutdown backfired on Republicans..."

or change your monikor to the more appropriate 'Alzheimer's voter'...

"[If I become Majority Leader,] We're going to pass spending bills, and they're going to have a lot of restrictions on the activities of the bureaucracy...That’s something [Obama] won’t like, but that will be done. I guarantee it....[Obama]needs to be challenged, and the best way to do that is through the funding process....He would have to make a decision on a given bill, whether there's more in it that he likes than dislikes." -Mitch McConnell, August 2014 (19th or 20th)

Teatroll Rosetta Stone: "We're going to play games with the funding bills by attaching non-starter, GOP agenda wish list items to spending bills, even if they are completely irrelevant to the spending bill, and then dare Obama to veto it so we can then throw up our hands, negotiate nothing, and try to blame him for shutting down the government. Our base will love it because they think that President Boy should just do as he's told."

    What?,
So tell me again, what do you want the Government to do for you that you can't do for yourself? Up to now the Liberal's have put Programs in place that was supposed to help but are now Glaring Failures. You now have Universal Health Care except it keeps getting delayed because it is a huge success? So why is every Tom, Dick, and Harry getting exemptions?
So what do you want the Government to do that hasn't been done up to the present?

Anyone who is tired and not happy to see the Approval Ratings all way through being under 15% of congress, must get rid of these clowns. They are fooling all people around while making their pockets fatter and fatter. Try to think of John McCain who went to Syria few years back and took selfie with terrorists while smiling and shouting "Cheers", and now without any shame he wants to kill them all. These long serviced members must go including McConnell. They have to stay home and enjoy there their retirement benefits with grand kids.

I really don't mind "negotiating" on these bills. However, this game of chicken isn't the way. Not to mention these last minute games of chicken.

The problem with politicians of late is that they are running with this all of nothing tactic. If you wish to negotiate, do so in good faith. Tying partisan add ons to unrelated and important legislation and refusing to budge isn't smart negotiating. It's more like cutting off your face to spite your face.

!Republicans shut down government at a cost of $24 billion, conducted witch hunts on Benghazi and the IRS at the cost of millions, conducted 54 votes to repeal ACA, over 30 attempts to eliminate women's reproductive rights, and now have found another way of wasting tax payer money to fire up their disgusting base. Boehner is the worst speaker of the house to put his speakership above the needs of all Americans.Shtt!" said Boaner. "Can't you see I'm in the middle of a presidential impeachment... no wait, I mean, a presidential lawsuit for.... for.... doing exactly what we Republicans wanted..... and now he's stealing our thunder, dam it!! And you bother me with meaningful, critical immigration legislation? Don't you remember we already said NO to that! Can't you see I'm busy with a lawsuit here trying to sukk up to my base and get a couple votes

"Our base will love it because they think that President Boy should just do as he's told..."

Six years now, and the GOP still hasn't begun to understand the damage done to its own party by this incessant backlash against the man they made a two term president.

McConnell is the man who created the backlash, kept the backlash going, and still manages to place himself on a pedestal by continuing to blah, blah, blah Obama non-stop.

If ONLY folks would understand; Its about a Republican party that screwed Americans for decades ... know they screwed Americans for decades ... and are still trying to keep the wool over the heads of those that will vote for them time and again least these voters become fully aware of what their political party has done to them economically and emotionally; and what their party would fight tooth and nail to take away from them, one step at a time.

Funny thing is, even that description is massive equivocation on CNN's part. To this day, they still refuse to report on the GOP/Teatrolls making changes to the House's rules regarding "discharge petitions" ON THE NIGHT OF THE SHUTDOWN so that they could GUARANTEE that a shutdown took place by blocking any attempt to bring a discharge petition that would force the House to vote on the Senate's bill, which they knew would pass. Nothing makes it more starkly clear that the GOP/Teatrolls were the ones who deliberately manufactured the shutdown....which of course is why it's glossed over by the MSM in obeisance to the false equivalence paradigm.

Of course we remember you Mitchie Poo. You're the guy that attempted to treat the duly elected POTUS like he was something you scrape off the bottom of your shoe. You promised to make him a one term POTUS but you failed. You're the same guy that promised to repeal the ACA, alas you failed yet again. But I think your crowning achievement Mitch is you filibustering your own bill. And after all of those failures you and your brethren shut down the government and tried to blame that on the POTUS too.

I don't think the GOP and their MSM should get too cocky too soon about November. People are starting to see them for what they are. Take Governor Rick "I'll have to get back with you about important issues" Snyder here in MI. Polls are showing him trailing behind his Democratic challenger by a few points. And that's with Koch money. Even our Fox 2 Political analyst that worships the ground he walks on says he could be in trouble. However the only polls that count are on Election Day.

Let's see if this gets zapped like my last well thought out comment. Liberal media my eye.

Randal, what are you complaining about, The President and democrats want ALL coal mining to stop!
Who did the shutdown hurt, ALL government employees got FREE vacation on top of their 4 weeks paid, ILLEGALS got to protest complements of the government. Democrats got what they wanted, BLAMING the other side, and standing firm on not to negotiate with republicans.
Right now the only ones talking about impeachment and shutdowns are democrats. Republicans passed a immigration bill and it had NOWHERE to go, because the SENATE under the leadership of Harry Reid went on summer vacation.
Cali is running out of water, but then it's the republicans fault for clearing land of TREES for farms and vineyards. Cut down all the trees and it becomes a desert, you change the environmental impact.

Remember? The U.S. does not negotiate with terrorists. People who threaten, or shut down the federal government of these United States of America in exchange for a radical political agenda- ARE terrorists.
Go away Mr. McConnell, America has grown weary of your petty, radical ideologues.

Remember? Mr. McConnell is the man who lead the Senate GOPpers on 541 filibusters to stop all legislation from escaping the Senate. He even filibustered his own bills when the President of the United States supported them. He has place more than 100 holds on judicial appointments crippling the federal court system, and more than 36 holds on ambassadorships- including ambassadors for Russia, several Central American nations and Turkey (right next door to events in Syria and Iraq).

You think we should fight terrorists? We should start at home with Mr. McConnell.

You mean the Obama 2013 shutdown where Obama refused to negotiate the ObamaCare deadline but then they had to delay it anyways?

You mean the Obama 2013 shutdown where illegal immigrants were allowed to protest against US Law and Policies in the "closed" National Mall (w/ stage and sound system setup, temp restroom facilities, and clean-up all paid by US Tax Dollars) while US Vets were removed by force from DC War Memorials?

    @Klutch Cargo
    "What?,
So tell me again, what do you want the Government to do for you that you can't do for yourself?"

To provide me and ALL citizen's with the rights laid out in the Constitution. To enforce a fair and level playing field where ALL people receive equal justice. To insure that even the least of our citizens have access to, and are provided with, equality in ALL areas of life, education, healthcare, freedom, the right to peaceably assemble... you know, all the things you detest and rail against.
I noticed (as usual) you just whine and besmirch 'liberals', yet never give any details as to why you are crying. Ex: "Up to now the Liberal's (sic) have put Programs in place that was supposed to help but are now Glaring Failures"... what 'programs' specifically are you referring to (Social Security, Medicare, the GI Bill... what?)? How did they fail you? You do specifically mention 'Universal Health Care' (I suppose you mean the ACA... you republicants... as I predicted, are really staying away from calling it Obamacare now aren't you? Is it because even with your sloped foreheads and 3" thick skulls you are beginning to see... 'Uh-oh Obamacare, Good'? Better call it something else before the rubes notice... completely overlooking the fact you are a rube yourself.), which confuses me a great deal... wouldn't you be happy if it failed (which it isn’t going to BTW... but you know that, don't you?).
I guess I am just wondering... why are you so angry? (j/k- we all know it is bothering you that Obama is a success despite all you and your ilk's efforts to make him 'seem' to be a failure . He will go down in the annals of history as a Great President.... and you rubes can't even field a halfway decent candidate against our Champ Hillary. You see your old Hater party dying and it somewhere deep inside your primitive little brain you realize... "Something to this evolution thing after all!).
