(CNN) - President Barack Obama on Thursday took some questions in the White House press briefing room about serious subject matters - ISIS, Iraq, Syria, Russia.
But the reaction on Twitter was largely focused on his rarely worn tan suit.
Within seconds of stepping into the room, tweets were already firing off about Obama's pre-Labor Day attire. And by the end of the news conference, a few Twitter handles had been created in honor of the suit.

“Repubs had said they would support going against ISIS, Rudy.”
When was this vote held and what was the result?
Answer: there was no vote and the republicants ‘say’ a lot of stuff… one day they say President Obama is a Dictator and needs to be impeached, and the next day they cry that only Dems are talking about impeachment (but now they are going to sue President Obama on the taxpayer dime, presumably in Judge Judy’s court— that’s the only thing to make this more ridiculous) and that he is indecisive and leading from behind.
Lucky for us though that tom I is sooo independent only He sees these issues without a partisan eye.
All hail tom i…
☺️☺️ Judge Judy would have the GOPT in tears in 10 minutes! Now that's something I'd love to see. I wonder how many times she'd call them stupid in that half hour???
Btw I see you peeped how the mods work on this site. That's how they roll Ol'Yeller. You can say the most downright nastiest things about the current POTUS and FLOTUS, but nothing about the chosen ones. I couldn't even mention Ra fal ca.
In this case, saying we have no plan is like the military saying we have no interest in investigating UFO's. Sightings of TOP SECRET military planes are quite often the alleged UFO. Point is, there is a plan and its currently TOP SECRET.
When was the last time the congress voted? They on vacation still?
@Robert-Why show your hand, get your ducks in a row 1st?
Weighing all military options is what an intelligent, reasoned leader does....as opposed to 2003 when we bombed the hell out of a soverign country that was no threat to the U.S.......it's because of THAT brilliant strategy we facing ISIS today
i swear people now a days need to focus on the big stuff. Not a tan suit!
I personally don't care what color his suit is. This is only a sheepish attempt by the left to deflect the real news to come out of yesterday's meeting. "We don't have a strategy" has a familiar ring to it – "If you like your plan you can keep your plan". Once again we have a president who is very out of touch with is really going on. Why else would he refer to these terrorist as the "JV squad" ? Clueless...
We need to worry much more what comes out of his mouth rather than what color suit he wears.
I think he looked pretty sharp in the tan suit. I just didn't like how he told our enemies that we have no idea how to counter them.

Saying and doing are two very different things. The GOP in Congress would much rather not go on record, or approving anything the President might support simply so they can whine about it later. The President will not take the country to war status without their approval- if he did I am sure that would only reinvigorate their "King, dictator, impeachment" mantra.- And yes, this is precisely why the President asked for support on Syria (after their yammering), and they refused to grant it.
They are saying Perry will try to run again. lol. Is that man a drinker? He always seems like he has had a snort.

That is exactly the logic and the line used to go to war in Iraq in '03- if you're paying attention, I think it is charitable to say that didn't turn out well. You really want to go back to that well for another dunking?
Have a great Labor Day!

@Tom Sept. 4, 2013, Senate voted to strike Syria, Republicans voted no. Faux news reported. I am surprised you did not know. Why don't you look things up before you write wrongs into blogger history?
--------------------------------
Thank-you, for posting that. Republicans voted "no" just so that they could tie Pres. Obama's hands and dishonestly accuse him of doing nothing when Assad crossed the "red line" in the sand. The U.S. did nothing because Republicans had voted to do nothing.
@Tom
Because Congress failed to pass an authorization bill to take action in Syria, that would mean that any executive order to begin air strikes in Syria could be interpreted as him defying an act of Congress. Pres. Obama would need an authorization vote in Congress before any drone or air strikes could begin in Syria. When some Republicans say that they would support air strikes in Syria, they are talking strictly about an authorization vote, tom. Whether or not they would vote in favor is another matter. Many had spoken the same way prior to the first vote, but voted against authorizing the use of force in Syria.
So, when you hear all of these Republican members of Congress calling for strikes in Syria and ridiculing the President for not having already started strikes, then you should realize that they are being totally dishonest and deceptive with the American people.
There you go America , discussing the suit instead of who is wearing it.
The constant hate mongering between both parties has allowed Obama to stay an inept President with no leadership qualities .
No wonder Putin is flexing his muscles and ISIS is celebrating their heinous atrocities in the Middle East . Obama is weak and the world knows it. These terrorists are only a plane ticket away from our shores , or even worse they are here already and waiting to strike. What then Mr. President..., give us another speech...!!!??
Looks like an empty suit.
@scottish mama
This POTUS has chosen to go it alone on everything else. Why not this? After all he is your royal highness King Barry.
Regarding the suit: The most important thing it says is, "I'm not an old stodgy thinker!" Yes, it is a distraction – but is that all it takes to distract opponents and the American public?
There was never an actual vote on Sept. 4, 2013. It was a vote count but it was never actually voted on.
Thank you President Obama for being an intelligent president, who actually thinks before acting. This is why you are known as one of the top foreign policy Presidents ever.
No new wars. Killed America's #1 enemy of all time. Forced Russia to disarm the Syrian chemical weapons. Prevented ALL foreign terrorist attacks on our soil.
Obviously there are no easy solutions to the ISIS problem. It is not a big problem for America of course – some low class thugs killing their enemies – par for the course in the middle east. But it is a problem that requires intelligence, which is why no Republicans have offered any solutions yet. They simply are not smart enough.
Mr President don't follow the traditions of past presidents most of don't have a clue on how to dress just wear what you want whether it be green, red, yellow, blue etc give these racist haters more to talk about and as a matter of fact give them heart attacks. Mr President out of all the other Presidents you are the only man, the others are mantle (Republiclowns)

Yup. Not only did Republicans refuse to grant authorization, they changed the narrative of their yammering, which has continued ever since. The right wing has been accusing the president of allowing Assad to cross the red line and doing nothing about it, knowing full well that Pres. Obama probably does not have the authority to do so, not without a vote.

Congress was in recess until September 9, 2013. Wow, just wow. Why don't you look things up before you write wrongs into blogger history? What you were reading was how they intended to vote. There ended up being no vote.
rs...Are you paying attention to whats happening over there? Did you not listen to Great Britains PM speech this morning? Hey....Sit back, enjoy the last of your summer iced tea and relax. The war will be in your back yard before you know it. Containment of these radicals will not work. They need to be decimated. They are headed here whether you like it or not, UNLESS we take action over there. End of story.
@karina
There you go America , discussing the suit instead of who is wearing it. (we are discussing politics and President Obama... I see your back for your semi monthly Obama bashing, only to run and hide after your hateful little post- as usual).
The constant hate mongering between both parties has allowed Obama to stay an inept President with no leadership qualities . (karina says hatefully- if hate mongering is what has kept Obama in the White House, then the republicant stratergy is even crazier than I thought. Perhaps you should inform faux news that they have been the ones responsible for President Obama's continued success).
No wonder Putin is flexing his muscles and ISIS is celebrating their heinous atrocities in the Middle East . Obama is weak and the world knows it. (uh... I don't know about that... osama bin laden might not agree with you. Are we supposed to place our troops in harms way and fight everyone else's battles for them? Do you want to be the #1 recruitment tool for isis like we did for al queda? Did you NOT learn anything from our past mistakes in the middel east... sheesh!)
These terrorists are only a plane ticket away from our shores , or even worse they are here already and waiting to strike. What then Mr. President..., give us another speech...!!!?? (we haven't been attacked in the 6 years Obama has been our leader- we didn;t make it but a few months under bush before we were attacked. Were you peeing your pants then? Were you calling him weak, or applauding his fire, ready, aim statergy?)
Go away karina... you are a hateful little troll.

Yes, there was. An authorization was passed the Senate Foreign Relations Committee by a 10-7 vote. Use the archive tool on the right over there. I dare you.
