That time Obama wore a tan suit and Twitter freaked out

(CNN) - President Barack Obama on Thursday took some questions in the White House press briefing room about serious subject matters - ISIS, Iraq, Syria, Russia.

But the reaction on Twitter was largely focused on his rarely worn tan suit.

Within seconds of stepping into the room, tweets were already firing off about Obama's pre-Labor Day attire. And by the end of the news conference, a few Twitter handles had been created in honor of the suit.

    Yes, smith... I remember all the time you and your righty buddies on here have praised President Obama and marvelled at his overcoming insurmountable obstacles in his rise from a young black son of a single mother to win the highest office in this land giving hope to millions of poor children, who got to witness an event proving the American Dream was still alive for those who work hard and persevere, even when the deck is completely stacked against one;

I think is actually exactly what conservatives think of Obama. And that is the exact reason for the criticism....of his policies. I don't criticize him personally. I criticize his decisions and his policies. I don't feel the need to treat him any different from any other president but it sure does seem like you think he should be treated different by the opposition. I am speaking in generalities here. I believe the vast majority of conservatives would not disagree with one word you said here. I can absolutely say that I agree with this statement and wish he talked more about how he was able to overcome these incredible odds and obstacles and what he did to achieve it because people like you sure make it seem that there is no way for a young black man today to be able to overcome difficulties because all of the racism out there now. You make it appear that they have no chance. I, on the other hand, think that if they have the drive and determination and focus that anyone can make it. It is just more difficult and our president has proven that.

    No plans, No surprise!

Barry would rather do another apology tour through the Middle East.

Or, better just wait for another attack on our homeland and call the local Furguson police chief to investigate.

And, lose the emails along the way.

No plans, we are in for a rude awakening.

    God help the USA.

Don't act like a yoyo school boy "GW Bush" and be a reactionary , it's not cost effective.
Find an Islamic leader who is not in the dark ages , who understands openminded thought , look to Oman !
Muslims must stand up against this fundamentally wrong interpretation of Allah .
Great suit Mr. President , it's late Summer .

now what is wrong since there is always with the President's attire. Can's this man where whatever he wants to. It is his clothing. Who cares what the other part of the world thinks. The problem with the US is that since we police the world, now we need to wear what they want. The same black or dark blue suit is old nowadays. Let this man live.

The President of the United States of America can wear a Tan suit or for that matter any other color he wants, not just because he makes the suits look good, but he is the most powerful man in the world. Looking good President! When was the last time any Republican made a suit look that good?

Now they feel that hey need to dress you also since you cannot make a decision with Congress or you are a BAD BOY. You are my president. YOU GO!!!!!!

Obama quote from this afternoon regarding dealing with ISIS:

"We don't have a strategy yet".
Quite so, but here's the truth of the matter: The GOP doesn't have one either, and just like last year when the President went to Congress seeking the authority to do something about Syria- and they didn't. The GOP won't start another war in Iraq- even they aren't that stupid. They will however blather on about the situation. Why waste the fundraising opportunity?

I like the way CNN has stepped up their game recently. Publishing in-depth quality journalism on the major issues facing Americans, and allowing a free and open dialog on those stories.

The opresident's comment was taken out of context. ISIL in Iraq is one thing. ISIL in Syria is another thing. First of all, Congress is being consulted. Secondly, reconnaissance is underway : we are still learning what is involved. Third, determing what partners on the ground can be used, the air defenses of Assad, support from regional, allies, etc. All of these things are involved in formulating a strategy.
Nevertheless the attacks on the President in the posts above are as virulent and hateful as usual, That is because the President is being attacked by the Republican "Southern Strategy" base who are outraged at an intelligent Black man being in a position of power. That is galling to them. That this President is also of mixed race compounds their hatred. They fear racial intermixture and live with the illusions of racial purity reminiscent of the Third Reich.
Anyone who is aware of the Republican "Southern Strategy" which arose in response to the Democrats fighting for Civil Rights will see this. Anyone of good will and common sense who hears Republican hate radio will know this. This is the reason minorities overwhelmingly vote against Republicans They are the party of racial and ethnic prejudice and hatred Along the way, the party of Lincoln became the party of "Southern Strategy" bigotry and hatred.
