McConnell hit on Social Security in new ad

(CNN) - A progressive group targeting Mitch McConnell of Kentucky released a television ad Thursday, calling on the Senate minority leader to expand Social Security as the powerful Republican fights to hold on to his seat next year.
The 30-second spot features Kirk Gillenwaters, who says he started working at the Ford plant in Louisville when he was 18.

(CNN) - The independent political group supporting President Barack Obama’s agenda will on Thursday release a new television commercial promoting the successes of his signature healthcare law.
Entitled “Every Day,” the Organizing for Action ad tells the story of a Huntersville, North Carolina, family who received an insurance rebate because of reforms implemented under the Affordable Care Act.

NYC mayoral candidate features interracial family in ad

(CNN) - The first television ad released by New York City mayoral hopeful Bill de Blasio highlights the candidate's mixed-race family, a dynamic he has prominently featured in his public life.
The spot stars the Democrat's 15-year-old son, Dante, whose large afro has become a bit of a trademark on the campaign trail.

Democrats continue to pound McConnell with ads
(CNN) - Senate Majority PAC, an independent group that works to keep the Senate in Democrats' hands, launched another attack ad Tuesday against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, highlighting the Kentucky Republican as a "guardian of gridlock."
The ad, also sponsored by Patriot Majority USA, is part of a campaign the two groups kicked off last month called "30 Years Is Too Long," as they seek to oust the senator in next year's election.

Both sides of Obamacare debate launch ad campaigns
(CNN) - Dueling ads over Obamacare will hit the airwaves this week, as a conservative group raises questions about the rollout of the president's sweeping health care reform, while a group on the other end of the political spectrum unveils a new TV spot seeking to defend the comprehensive program.
The conservative group Americans for Prosperity is the latest organization to launch a major ad campaign attacking Obamacare, a spokesman has confirmed to CNN. The ad buy is expected to eventually total $1 million and run nationally, with an initial rollout of $700,000 worth of television and online ads that will air in Virginia and Ohio beginning Tuesday.

In fight against NRA, Manchin says he’s not afraid
(CNN) - Sen. Joe Manchin is firing back after the National Rifle Association targeted the conservative Democrat in a television commercial last week.
The senator from West Virginia said Thursday morning the NRA is using "paranoia" to keep lawmakers from making big moves on gun control, following the Newtown elementary school shooting in December that left 20 children and six adults dead.

The Romney video that never was–starring Donald Trump

(CNN) - Real-estate mogul Donald Trump said Friday night that Mitt Romney's team asked him to appear in a "commercial" for the campaign last year–but it never saw the light of day.
The video, he said, was supposed to run during the Republican National Convention and featured Trump sitting in his office with an actor who looked like President Obama. After telling the faux president "what a lousy job" he's done, Trump said, he delivered his famous line to the actor: "You're fired!"

Bloomberg gun group hits a Democrat
Washington (CNN) - A large gun advocacy group is hitting its first Democrat in their most recent campaign to increase gun control measures.
Mayors Against Illegal Guns, founded by independent New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, announced an ad Friday criticizing Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor for his recent vote against gun legislation in the Senate, including expanding background checks.

Christie's opponent puts up first ad
(CNN) - The Democrat hoping to oust New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie released her first television ad Wednesday.
New Jersey State Sen. Barbara Buono, already outspent by her opponent in ad money, used the spot to not only introduce herself but to take a few swipes at the Republican governor, who's up for re-election in November.
