
(CNN) - Reince Priebus, the Republican National Committee chairman, said in a Tuesday interview that he would not abandon GOP Rep. Allen West, who said on Sunday that President Barack Obama wanted Americans to be "slaves."
"He does not want you to have the self-esteem of getting up and earning and having that title of American. He'd rather you be his slave," the Florida congressman said of Obama at a rally in Port St. Lucie, according to CNN affiliate WPTV.

(CNN) - Republican Rep. Allen West of Florida will run for re-election to the House in 2012, closing the door on a Senate bid, the tea party favorite announced in a statement Monday.
West said he considered launching a primary bid for the Republican Senate nomination to face incumbent Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson in the next election, but ultimately decided he would be most effective as a member of the House.

(CNN) - Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz admitted Wednesday that fellow Florida Rep. Allen West's e-mail rant was the kind of attack she's never experienced before.
In an interview on CNN's "The Situation Room," Schultz added, "And I was surprised that he sent that to my personal e-mail, an e-mail that he didn't previously have."

Washington (CNN)-The debt debate got ugly over the internet between two Florida representatives on either side of the House aisle. Freshman Congressman Allen West ripped into Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz over e-mail following her comments on the House floor Tuesday.
Calling the Democratic National Committee Chair the "most vile, unprofessional, and despicable member" of the House, West said, "Look, Debbie, I understand that after I departed the House floor you directed your floor speech comments directly towards me. Let me make myself perfectly clear, you want a personal fight, I am happy to oblige."

(CNN) - Freshman Republican Rep. Allen West, who was backed by the Tea Party in last November's election, has drawn another challenger in the 2012 race for Florida's 22nd Congressional District.
Democrat Lois Frankel, the mayor of West Palm Beach, announced Monday that she will challenge West for the seat. Frankel, who has been mayor for 8 years and is term-limited, is also a former Florida state representative. Fort Lauderdale businessman and Democrat Patrick Murphy announced his candidacy for the seat last week.
