New York Times editorial board passes on endorsing Cuomo

Washington (CNN) – No endorsement for you, Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

That was the message the New York Times editorial board sent to the state's sitting governor when they published Tuesday an editorial that spelled out why they won't be backing Cuomo in New York's upcoming gubernatorial primary on September 9.

(CNN) - New York State politics have never been the cleanest but it seems things are getting a bit murkier in Albany.

Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo has retained new counsel to the Executive Chamber, CNN confirmed Friday.

Cuomo pushes back against report of tampering in corruption investigation

Updated 5:21 p.m. ET, 7/31/2014

(CNN) - Gov. Andrew Cuomo defended the work of a commission designed to quell corruption in New York state politics against a report that his office interfered with the panel's investigation.

"By definition the commission took advice and opinion from many, many people," Cuomo said Monday in response to questions about a top aide's communication with the Moreland Commission, a group appointed last year by the Democratic governor.

Poll: Cuomo with 37 point lead

(CNN) - You don't see poll numbers like this very often.

With three and a half months until Election Day, Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York has a 37-percentage point lead over his GOP opponent, according to a new Siena College survey.

Cuomo book to get first run with 200k copies

(CNN) - Harper Collins is banking on New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to bring in the dough as a popular author.

The Democratic governor's memoir "All Things Possible: Success and Setbacks in Politics and Life," will have an initial printing of 200,000 copies, the publishing company confirmed to CNN Thursday.

Rick Perry challenges Andrew Cuomo to debate

(CNN) - Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who openly competes with other governors by trying to lure businesses to the Lone Star State, is now taking his strategy one step further.

He's challenging New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, to a debate on economic policy. Perry's office said he issued the challenge on Albany's Talk 1300 news radio.

Washington (CNN) - Rand Paul has done something his father never did - top the list of potential Republican presidential candidates in a national poll.

According to a new CNN/ORC International survey, 16% of Republicans and independents who lean toward the GOP say they would be likely to support the senator from Kentucky for the 2016 nomination.

Cuomo: Future of Port Authority board chair up to Christie

(CNN) - New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo kept his distance on Monday from controversy surrounding Port Authority Chairman David Samson, who is under pressure over agency business dealings and whose name has surfaced in a separate political scandal roiling the administration of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

"The chairman of the Port Authority is an appointee of the governor of New Jersey and I will leave it to the governor of New Jersey to make that decision," Cuomo told WNYC radio host Brian Lehrer when asked whether Samson should resign.

N.Y. poll: Cuomo trumps Trump in possible showdown

(CNN) - New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo tops Donald Trump and another potential GOP challenger this year by 2-1 margins in possible November showdowns, according to a new poll.

And a Quinnipiac University survey of New York voters released Thursday also indicates that more than six in 10 approve of the job the job their Democratic governor is doing in office, with 59% saying Cuomo deserves to be re-elected this year to a second term in Albany.

NYC mayor argues for an equal financial playing field

New York (CNN) - New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio – in his first "State of the City" address – vowed Monday to ask New York State Gov. Andrew Cuomo for the authority to raise the minimum wage in all five boroughs and raise taxes on the wealthy.

New York City's 109th mayor also said he would expand affordable housing to thousands of lower income families, expand school programs and make municipal ID cards available to thousands of undocumented immigrants.
