
(CNN) - After failing to gain traction as a Republican presidential candidate and then making an unsuccessful attempt to run as a third party nominee, former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer on Thursday announced an end to his White House bid.
"Today, I am no longer a candidate for President of the United States," Roemer said in a statement.

(CNN) – Republican presidential candidate Buddy Roemer became the first 2012 contender eligible to receive matching funds from the Federal Election Commission, according to a statement from the FEC Friday.
Eligibility is based on candidates raising $100,000 through collections of $5,000 in 20 different states in amounts no greater than $250 from any individual. Having reached the benchmarks, the Roemer campaign is able to receive $100,000 from the United States Treasury and submit additional contributions for matching funds each month.

(CNN) - He was one of the first Republicans to form a presidential exploratory committee back in March, but now former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer is officially throwing his hat into the ring.
The White House hopeful, soon to be the 11th GOP presidential candidate, will announce his decision Thursday in New Hampshire, where he'll be living and "campaigning the heck out of the state," according to campaign manager Carlos Sierra.

Washington (CNN)-Former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer admits that he's got a "difficult road to the top," on his journey to clinch the GOP nomination for president.
Roemer served as a "conservative" Democratic Congressman and then governor, switching parties before the end of his term in the statehouse. He has pledged to only accept donations in $100 increments. Claiming that "Washington, D.C., is a boomtown, and the rest of America is hurting," Roemer told CNN that "inaction is bought by money" on Tuesday.

Visitors to ExploreNewt2012.com, however, will be redirected to buddyroemer.com, the exploratory website set up by former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer, who announced on Thursday that he has formed an official presidential exploratory committee.
