Washington (CNN) - It's an important day for Chris Christie.

Of the nine potential Republican presidential candidates speaking at the fifth annual Road to the Majority conference, which is organized by Ralph Reed's Faith and Freedom Coalition, one may be in the glare of the spotlight more than the others. And that's Christie, the pragmatic conservative governor of New Jersey who's anything but a crowd favorite among some on the right.

Washington (CNN) - Ralph Reed can still draw a crowd.

Nine potential Republican presidential candidates will be speaking at the fifth annual Road to the Majority conference, which is organized by Reed's Faith and Freedom Coalition. The event, which kicks off Thursday at a hotel in the nation's capital, is one of the largest annual gatherings of social conservative voters, who are a key part of the Republican Party's base.

Washington (CNN) - It'll surely get ugly, so they say they'll need backup.

Contemplating what could be a bruising fight against Democrats and President Barack Obama for 2012 electoral victory, the two-day Faith and Freedom Coalition conference in Washington this weekend is bringing together cultural and economic conservatives in one of the largest and most public efforts to merge the disparate conservative factions.

Washington (CNN) – He may have irked some conservatives by flirting with, then bailing on, a presidential run and by recently bailing on a commitment to speak to Iowa Republicans - but Donald Trump appears to remain popular among conservative voters.

In his first major political outing since deciding against a presidential bid in mid-May, Trump wowed the crowd at the Faith and Freedom Coalition conference in Washington on Friday by dusting off his familiar lines of political attack against Democrats and President Barack Obama.

Reed aims to keep his momentum

Washington (CNN)–"We think it's a great weekend but it's not just about a confab," Ralph Reed said as he took a break from hustling from one end of the ballroom to the next after wrapping up interviews with ABC and CNN's Eliot Spitzer. Day one at the Faith and Freedom Coalition conference was a big success, Reed said.

"The purpose of this conference is to build the organization. It's to train people to teach people and then they go back to their communities and keep growing and building."

(CNN) - He may not be running for president, but real estate mogul Donald Trump is still speaking at a presidential cattle call in June.

Trump, who flirted with a bid for the White House for a few months, will speak at the Faith and Freedom Coalition in Washington, according to a statement.

Huntsman to attend major social-conservative forum

Washington (CNN) - Do you need more evidence that Jon Huntsman is making the moves towards running for Republican presidential nomination?

If so, here you go: Huntsman will attend a major social conservative conference early next month here in the nation's capitol. The former U.S. Ambassador to China and former Utah governor will address the Faith and Freedom Conference and Strategy Briefing on Friday June 3, according to a statement Monday from Ralph Reed, the organization's founder. A spokesman for Huntsman confirmed the news to CNN.
