A bipartisan tribute to the Gettysburg Address

(CNN) - Amid the political divisiveness in Washington, two U.S. senators from North Dakota recited the Gettysburg Address together in a show of bipartisanship to honor the famed speech in light of its 150th anniversary on Tuesday.

In a video posted on YouTube, GOP Sen. John Hoeven and Democrat Heidi Heitkamp recited Abraham Lincoln's historic address for the Learn the Address project, an initiative started by filmmaker Ken Burns.

Republicans to Obama: Approve the Keystone pipeline

(CNN) - As Washington grapples with how to reduce the nation's deficit, Republicans are again pointing to the Keystone XL pipeline as a project that would boost the economy and ultimately make dents in paying off the federal debt.

Republican Sen. John Hoeven of North Dakota called on President Obama to approve the full transnational pipeline that would bring oil from Canada's tar sands down to the Gulf of Mexico.

Hoeven says free trade deals will rev up economy

(CNN) - North Dakota Sen. John Hoeven said Saturday that free trade agreements can spur major economic growth in America, and called on President Obama to send a number of the treaties to the Senate for ratification.

“For the good of our economy – and our country – he needs to send these free trade agreements to the United States Senate for approval now, so that U.S. workers and businesses can begin to realize their benefits,” Hoeven said in the weekly Republican address.
