Miller ends Alaska Senate challenge
(CNN)– Joe Miller chose the waning hours of 2010 to write the final chapter in the story of his lengthy 2010 Senate campaign, announcing that he would not continue with a legal challenge to Sen. Lisa Murkowski's November election victory.
"The time has come to accept the practical realities of our current legal circumstances. We shall abide by the court's decisions, even if we do not agree with them," Miller told supporters and reporters at an Anchorage news conference Friday.
In an interview on CNN's "John King USA" Miller explained why he had taken his fight this far. "Ultimately, what this was about was creating transparency in the Alaskan election system...making sure that the votes were counted appropriately, that ballot security was maintained, things that I think all Alaskans really now appreciate."
Alaska governor certifies Sen. Murkowski's re-election
(CNN)–Alaska's governor on Thursday certified Sen. Lisa Murkowski's re-election in November as a write-in candidate, clearing the way for Murkowski to be sworn in on time for the new congressional session that starts next week.
Gov. Sean Parnell signed the paperwork certifying Murkowski as the election winner, a spokeswoman to the governor told CNN.

(CNN)- A federal judge on Tuesday dismissed a lawsuit challenging Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski's write-in election victory last month, clearing the way for Murkowski to be sworn in for a second term next week.
Murkowski was defeated in the Republican primary in August by Tea Party-backed candidate Joe Miller. She then waged the write-in campaign in the general election in November to defeat Miller, who filed a lawsuit challenging the result.

Miller won't contest Murkowski certification; pursues federal suit
(CNN) - Republican Senate candidate Joe Miller said late Sunday he is dropping his opposition to incumbent Lisa Murkowski being certified as winner in the Alaska Senate race, but will continue with a federal lawsuit.
"After careful consideration and seeking the counsel of people whose opinion I respect and trust, I have decided that the federal case must go forward. The integrity of the election is vital and ultimately the rule of law must be our standard," Miller said in a statement. "Nevertheless, I have also decided to withdraw our opposition to the certification of the election, ensuring that Alaska will have its full delegation seated when the 112th Congress convenes next month."

Murkowski wants continued bipartisanship
(CNN) - Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski ran a successful write-in bid to hold onto her Alaska Senate seat after losing the GOP primary to Tea Party-backed Joe Miller. She now says she took a "very strong message" from the election.
"Alaskans want to be heard on the issues they don't necessarily want to be tied to a political label or a party position," Murkowski said on CNN's "John King, USA."

Miller appeals ruling in Alaska Senate race
(CNN) - Republican Senate candidate Joe Miller's challenge in the Alaska Senate race now moves to the state Supreme Court where oral arguments are scheduled to begin on Friday, following a new appeal by Miller's campaign.
Miller on Monday filed to appeal a ruling by an Alaska superior court judge which denied his challenge of ballots awarded to Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who ran as a write-in candidate.

Alaska Superior Court rules against Joe Miller
(CNN)- A state judge in the Alaska Superior Court has ruled against Senate candidate Joe Miller's challenge of write-in ballots. The ruling states that there is no proof of election official fraud, or that "there would be a sufficient change to the election results if these claims were true."
The ruling order is stayed until December 13 to allow for an appeal, but the Alaska Division of Elections has asked a federal judge to lift the stay and allow them to certify the Senate results in favor of Lisa Murkowski.
Ruling expected Friday in nation's last Senate battle
(CNN)– The judge presiding over Alaska's Senate race challenge is expected to issue a ruling Friday.
Arguments began Wednesday in the legal challenge filed by Joe Miller which asserts that Alaska law prohibits misspelled write-in ballots from being counted and bars the state from applying more lenient standards for write-in ballots than other ballots.

Date set for Alaska Senate court arguments
(CNN) - An Alaska state court judge has set a date for arguments in the case to resolve the dispute over the Alaska Senate race between incumbent Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski, who ran as a write-in candidate, and Tea-Party backed Republican candidate Joe Miller.
The arguments are scheduled to take place on Wednesday, December 8th, at 9 am Alaska time– 1 pm ET.
