Baldwin outlasts Thompson, wins open Wisconsin Senate seat

Washington (CNN) - After seven terms in the House, Democrat Tammy Baldwin has defeated Former Gov. Tommy Thompson in the race for Wisconsin's open Senate seat, according to CNN's projections.

Though polling had the election close through most of the race, Baldwin defeated Thompson 51% to 46% with 78% reporting.

Crossroads bashes Baldwin in Wisconsin Senate race

(CNN) - An independent, conservative group spent $1.2 million on a new television ad targeting Rep. Tammy Baldwin, the Democratic candidate in the heated Wisconsin Senate battle.

The commercial, made by Crossroads GPS, will run on local and broadcast networks in the Badger State beginning Wednesday.

GOP Senate candidate cites Romney for bad poll numbers

Washington (CNN) - A new poll out of Wisconsin this week shows Republican Senate candidate Tommy Thompson suddenly falling behind in his race against Democrat Tammy Baldwin.

Thompson is blaming the slip, in part, on the rocky campaign of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

New Wisconsin poll shows Obama with significant lead

(CNN) - A new poll of Wisconsin likely voters released Wednesday afternoon shows President Barack Obama with a double digit lead over Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney there. It stands in contrast to other national and state polls released Tuesday and Wednesday which have shown a close race, some giving Obama a slight advantage over Romney.

The Marquette Law School Poll put Obama 14 percentage points ahead of Romney among likely voters in the Badger State. It also shows a significant change in the Wisconsin race for a U.S. Senate seat.

Polls: Senate races tight in three battlegrounds

(CNN) - New polls released Thursday indicate three competitive Senate races remain tight in Ohio, Wisconsin and Florida, according to surveys by Quinnipiac University, CBS News, and The New York Times.

Starting with Florida, where Democratic incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson is defending his seat against Republican challenger Rep. Connie Mack, the two-term senator leads Mack, 50% to 41%, respectively.

Senate races locked up in Virginia, Wisconsin

(CNN) – Three months ahead of November's general election, races for the U.S. Senate are deadlocked in Virginia and Wisconsin, according to a poll released Wednesday.

Virginia's two candidates – former Governors Tim Kaine and George Allen – are statistically tied in their race to replace retiring Democratic Sen. Jim Webb. Kaine, a Democrat, stood at 48% in the Quinnipiac University/CBS News/New York Times poll, while Allen, a Republican, was at 46%.

Wisconsin Republican leads Democrat in Senate race

(CNN) - Former Gov. Tommy Thompson leads Rep. Tammy Baldwin in a Wisconsin race for the U.S. Senate according to a new poll, which also shows President Barack Obama six points ahead of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney in the state.

Thompson, a Republican, has 49% support in a matchup against Baldwin, a Democrat who scored 41% in the Marquette University poll of likely voters released Wednesday.

(CNN)-During a week of trying times for Democrats, one member of Congress from the blue column received what could be called good news Thursday.

Wisconsin Democratic Rep. Tammy Baldwin, who declared her statewide candidacy for Senate in early September, learned she would not draw a primary opponent in fellow Rep. Ron Kind.

Baldwin enters Wisconsin Senate race

(CNN) - Democratic Rep. Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin on Tuesday announced a bid for the Senate in 2012.

In a three-minute web video, the six term congresswoman likened herself to retiring Democratic Sen. Herb Kohl and former Democratic Sen. Russ Feingold, who lost his reelection bid in 2010.
