Bush 41 greets Obamas in Houston

(CNN) - Former President George H. W. Bush greeted President Barack Obama and First lady Michelle Obama as they disembarked from Air Force One in Houston on Wednesday.

The former president, seated in a scooter, smiled and spoke with the Obamas for several minutes, according to pool reports.

Obama makes 'painful' return to Fort Hood

Fort Hood, Texas (CNN) – For the second time in less than five years President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama traveled to Fort Hood in Texas on Wednesday to honor the memory of U.S. Army soldiers killed in a shooting.

"What makes this so painful is that we've been here before," Obama said. "This tragedy tears a wound still raw from five years ago. Once more, soldiers who survived foreign war zone were struck down here at home where they're supposed to be safe."

Perry tells Kimmel: 'I do interviews with a gun'

(CNN) - Giving a hint at a possible second run for the White House, Texas Gov. Rick Perry said Tuesday on late night TV that, "America is a great place for second chances. Let's keep it at that."

Perry's answer came in an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," after the host asked the longtime GOP governor of Texas why he would want to make another presidential bid in 2016 after his 2012 campaign "didn't go so well."

Perry hoping for ‘a second chance’ from voters

National Harbor, Maryland (CNN) – On the heels of a rousing morning address to the Conservative Political Action Conference that brought a sleepy audience to its feet many times over, Texas Gov. Rick Perry had a bounce in his step.

He hosted a meet-and-greet with conservative activists, young and old, in a corner room at the Gaylord National Resort outside Washington. The line snaked out the door and down the hall. He crossed paths with major conservative donors.

About last night: Texas primary highlights

(CNN) – The Lone Star state held its primary contests Tuesday, kicking off the 2014 election season with two top Republicans guarding their seats in Congress against conservative challengers and gubernatorial candidates Wendy Davis and Greg Abbott ready to square off in November.

Texas voters also boosted another Bush’s quest for statewide office.

Texas ban on same-sex marriage struck down

(CNN) - A federal judge has struck down a ban on same-sex marriage in Texas, ruling Wednesday it has no "rational relation to a legitimate government purpose."

The decision is the latest in a series of federal and state court moves to overturn current laws forbidding gay and lesbians from legal wedlock.

Texas Gov. race: Davis outraises Abbott in the last month

(CNN) - Democrat Wendy Davis outraised Republican Greg Abbott in the last month in the Texas gubernatorial to race to succeed outgoing GOP Gov. Rick Perry.

Davis' campaign announced Monday that it raised $2.85 million between January 24 and February 22, compared to Abbott's reported $2.45 million over the same period.

Perry: Nugent's comments ‘shouldn't surprise anybody'

(CNN) – Texas Gov. Rick Perry is playing down a controversial campaign appearance for the Lone Star State’s leading Republican gubernatorial candidate by rocker Ted Nugent, who has stirred outrage with controversial comments about President Barack Obama.

"The idea that Ted Nugent has said something that's outrageous shouldn't surprise anybody. He's been saying outrageous things for a lot of years,” Perry told Wolf Blitzer on Thursday on CNN’s "The Situation Room.”

Beaumont, Texas (CNN) - Can Ted Cruz imagine being in the Oval Office in 2017?
