McCotter enters race to be U.S. president
(CNN) - Vowing to "restructure the government," Congressman Thad McCotter formally announced his candidacy for president at a festival in his home state of Michigan Saturday.
The conservative, guitar-playing five-term congressman is the tenth Republican and third member of the U.S. House of Representatives to enter the race. He is considered a long-shot candidate by party insiders.

Washington (CNN) - Welcome Thad McCotter to the GOP presidential field for 2012. The conservative, guitar playing five-term Michigan Congressman will file his paperwork to run for President today, a spokesman confirmed.
McCotter will make an official announcement at a Fourth of July festival in his home state tomorrow evening. A program for tomorrow's festival states the Republican presidential candidate "will also be taking the stage to show off his musical talents."
