(CNN) - David Schnittger, deputy chief of staff for House Speaker John Boehner, said former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney called Boehner Thursday to congratulate him on his re-election to the post.
Boehner also received a call from President Barack Obama, their offices acknowledged. The White House said earlier Obama called House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

(CNN) - Rick Santorum's daughter, Bella, turns four on Sunday, the former presidential candidate posted on Twitter Friday, along with a link to a website to send birthday wishes.

Bella, the youngest of Santorum's seven children, suffers from a chromosomal condition called Trisomy 18. Half of patients born with the condition do not survive past the first week of life, according to the National Institutes of Health.
