(CNN) - Leaders in Utah say they found a way to get around the government shutdown.
Utah will reopen its five national parks by Saturday, as well as three other nationally run locations.
FULL STORY(CNN) - Rep. Jason Chaffetz reiterated Tuesday that the impeachment of President Barack Obama is possible as the White House faces scrutiny over its role in responding to the terror attack on a U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya.
“Look, it's not something I'm seeking,” the Republican congressman from Utah said on CNN’s “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.” “It's not the endgame; it's not what we're playing for. I was simply asked, is that within the realm of possibilities, and I would say ‘yes.’ I'm not willing to take that off the table. But that’s certainly not what we’re striving for.”

(CNN) - With 100% of the precincts counted, CNN projects Utah's incumbent Republican Rep. Jim Matheson won re-election after besting Mia Love in a high-profile congressional race that captured national attention.
Matheson, no stranger to tough elections, is a six-term Democrat in a largely Republican district that includes Salt Lake City.
Love, a Mormon of Haitian descent, currently serves as mayor of Utah's Saratoga Springs. She was considered a rising star in the Republican Party, and spoke at the Republican National Convention in August. At one point, she rose to a double-digit lead in polls in one of the nation's most hotly contested races. Both sides and outside parties collectively spent upwards of $10 million.
(CNN) - CNN has projected Republican incumbent Gary Herbert will continue to serve as governor of Utah, beating his Democrat opponent Peter Cooke.
It was expected that Herbert would win his re-election campaign as Utah has not had a Democratic governor in nearly 28 years. Herbert took office in August 2009 when then-Gov. Jon Huntsman resigned to become U.S. Ambassador to China. Herbert won a 2010 special election to complete the rest of Huntsman's term and received 64 percent of the vote over Peter Corroon, the mayor of Salt Lake County.
Herbert's challenger, Peter Cooke, is a businessman and retired two-star major general with the U.S. Army Reserves.
(CNN) – The Salt Lake Tribune announced in an editorial published Friday its endorsement of President Barack Obama for the 2012 race, questioning the "pragmatic, inclusive" former Massachusetts governor's change into Republican nominee Mitt Romney.
"The president has earned a second term. Romney, in whatever guise, does not deserve a first," the Utah newspaper said in the editorial.

Washington (CNN) – Sometimes in politics, things are black and white – like the historically wide gulf between the black community and the conservative movement.
But a new effort by FreedomWorks, a conservative organization associated with the tea party movement, aims to change that. And a prominent African-African progressive activist says he thinks the outreach effort is premature, misguided and, therefore, not likely to be successful.
With an event Wednesday evening in Pittsburgh, FreedomWorks is launching its national "Black and White Tour," an explicit, unapologetic effort to lobby African-Americans on economic policy issues at the core of the agenda of many fiscal conservatives involved in tea party activism.

(CNN) – Longtime Sen. Orrin Hatch will win the GOP primary in Utah, CNN projected Tuesday, though his bid for a seventh term in office has not gone without a fight.
Underdog Dan Liljenquist, 37, a former state senator, waged a spirited attempt to unseat the longtime senator, hoping to emulate the tea party-fueled ouster of incumbent Sen. Bob Bennett in 2010.
(CNN) - CNN projected Tuesday Mitt Romney will win the Utah Republican presidential primary. Tuesday's vote in Utah was the last Republican presidential primary for 2012.
