'Shock and awe' coming to Washington, GOP Senate nominee says

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (CNN) - Nevada Republican Senate nominee Sharron Angle on Friday night declared "there is going to be shock and awe in Washington" after the election during a rare appearance open to the media.

Angle also mocked one of President Barack Obama's phrases, promising "we're going to have a teachable moment."

The woman who could unseat the Senate's top Democrat vowed that conservatives will demand that Congress use its lame duck session to repeal health care reform - which she called "Obamacare" - and permanently extend the Bush tax cuts.

GOP's ad wizard faces 'demons,' supports 'nerds'

Los Angeles, California (CNN) - In one spot, a moderate Republican congressman is portrayed as a demon sheep - a threat to the Republican flock. In another ad, a candidate for governor declares to viewers, "I'm one tough nerd!" And, of course, there's the now-infamous "I am not a witch" spot.

Colorado's Ken Buck on Christmas Trees and the First Amendment

Denver, Colorado (CNN) - In an interview with CNN, Colorado's Republican Senatorial nominee Ken Buck made clear he believes in the separation of church and state. He defended comments he made last year during a candidates forum in which he challenged the way courts have interpreted the First Amendment's religious protections.

Buck told CNN, "I have said I agree with the establishment clause. I agree with the idea that there is a separation of church and state. That teachers should not be leading prayer – a particular kind of prayer in classrooms. What I have said is that I think the federal government and we as a society have come too far in trying to separate good organizations that perform good functions for people just based on the fact one has a religious association and one doesn't."

Sarah Palin says Americans are afraid of Obama's economic policies

Orlando, Florida (CNN) - As Sarah Palin urged about 2,000 Republican activists Saturday to keep working until the last minute to help guarantee GOP successes, she went after some recent comments by President Obama in which he said Americans are scared and frustrated and may not be thinking straight about the midterm elections. He has suggested Republicans were playing on that fear.

"Well, ya know Mr. President, you got it right on one point there, we are afraid - knowing that your economic policies are driving us off a cliff and your fundamental transformation of America is a nightmare. This is not the America that the rest of the people want, this is not the America that patriots fought and died for and still dying for today," she told the crowd.

She urged those in the audience to "exhaust ourselves" in the last 10 days leading up to the midterm elections to help get the vote out and to make sure no one is complacent.
