(CNN) – As the clock ticks down to key elements of President Barack Obama's health care law taking effect, former President Bill Clinton will provide a defense of the controversial measure in a speech next week at his presidential library in Arkansas.

Amid 2016 speculation, Cruz takes grassroots pitch to New Hampshire

(CNN) - Sen. Ted Cruz wrapped up a week in the political spotlight headlining a political fundraiser Friday in New Hampshire, home to the traditional first primary contest in the race for the White House.

The Texas Republican, who is considered a possible contender for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination, was the main attraction at a reception for the New Hampshire Republican Party in Dublin, where he told a receptive crowd that changes in Washington were only possible through mobilizing grassroots activists around issues like defunding President Barack Obama’s health care law.

(CNN) – It was some of the harshest criticism directed at Mitt Romney during his 2012 GOP primary battle: he was the “safe” candidate the establishment thought had the best shot of beating President Barack Obama.

And despite his general election loss, Romney still says his best advice for early state voters is to back a candidate with a viable shot of taking the White House.

Second straight poll indicates big lead for Christie

(CNN) - A new poll is the second this week to indicate most New Jersey voters think Chris Christie deserves re-election next year, and is the second straight to give the Republican governor large leads over his possible Democratic challengers.

According to a Quinnipiac University survey released Wednesday morning, two-thirds of registered voters in New Jersey say Christie deserves to be re-elected in November 2013, with only one in four saying he doesn't deserve a second term in Trenton.

Trio of polls indicate Christie's numbers soaring thanks to storm response

(CNN) - Three straight surveys over the past 24 hours indicate Chris Christie's poll numbers as governor of New Jersey are skyrocketing, thanks to his job responding to the devastating superstorm Sandy.

According to a Quinnipiac University survey released Tuesday morning, 72% of Garden State voters give the first term Republican governor a thumbs up on the job he's doing in office, a 16-point jump since before the storm struck the state in late October.
