Las Vegas (CNN) - Republican presidential hopeful Jon Huntsman said Friday he was skipping next week's CNN/Western Republican Presidential Debate out of deference to New Hampshire, which is locked in a political scheduling fight with Nevada.
Huntsman will instead hold a campaign event Tuesday morning in New Hampshire, while his seven rivals for the GOP presidential nomination prepare to face off in the debate in Las Vegas. The Western Republican Leadership Conference and CNN are co-sponsoring the event.

Tampa, Florida (CNN) – Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is backing Rick Perry for president, a major endorsement for the Texas governor as the campaign for the Republican nomination enters the crucial fall stretch of the primary calendar, a source tells CNN.
Jindal is on his way to Florida and will be Perry's guest at Monday night's "Tea Party Republican Debate" broadcast on CNN from Tampa, the source said. Jindal is expected to formally make the announcement prior to the debate.

Tampa, Florida (CNN) - Tim Pawlenty, who endorsed Mitt Romney for president Monday, will attend the Republican Tea Party Debate as one of Romney's guests.
Pawlenty, a former Minnesota governor who dropped his bid for the Republican presidential nomination in August, will serve as the national co-chair of Romney's campaign. In that role, Pawlenty will serve as a top campaign surrogate for the former Massachusetts governor.

An election for the new chairman will take place September 23, as Florida Republicans gather in Orlando for a multi-day political event anchored by a presidential debate and straw poll.

Washington (CNN) – Ending months of speculation, former New York Gov. George Pataki said Friday he will not run for the Republican presidential nomination.
Pataki, a three-term governor, said the GOP needs to focus its efforts on finding “serious solutions” to the problems facing the country and he pledged to be a voice in helping advance these ideas, but not as a presidential candidate.

Pataki, who had been flirting with a White House bid for months, was scheduled to appear this weekend in the key early voting state of Iowa.

Dover, New Hampshire (CNN) - Jon Huntsman predicted that Michele Bachmann would win Saturday's straw poll in Iowa, an organizing contest he chose to skip to focus his campaign on New Hampshire instead.
Huntsman told CNN he thinks Bachmann will win, Ron Paul will place second and Tim Pawlenty will come in third.
