Washington (CNN) - Students participating in a White House talent show got a surprise visit Tuesday when President Barack Obama showed up at the end of their performance – and wondered why he wasn't part of the act.
"I've got talent, but I wasn't invited to participate,” Obama joked.

Tarrytown, New York (CNN) – Saying that rebuilding America "shouldn't be a partisan issue," President Obama tackled the dense issue of federal infrastructure spending Wednesday. He called on Republicans in Congress to "not fight on something we all know makes sense."

(CNN) - Worcester Tech High School Principal Sheila Harrity got the shock of her life, and then had to keep it secret for a week and a half. But, on Thursday she got the okay to reveal to 311 graduating high school seniors that President Barack Obama will be their commencement speaker.
A White House official says the administration picked the high school in the central Massachusetts city because the school, "has made outstanding headway in boosting its graduation rate, implementing cutting edge vocational programs, and ensuring that all of its students have the opportunity to succeed."

Palm Springs, California (CNN) - President Barack Obama will travel Friday to California and announce a new federal initiative aimed at helping farms and communities there in the grips of a devastating drought.
The President will be joined by Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, who told reporters Thursday that the program will include $100 million in livestock disaster assistance for California farmers and producers, along with funding for water conservation projects, and aid for states across the country affected by the drought.

Washington (CNN) – First Lady Michelle Obama ate lunch at a Subway sandwich shop Thursday to thank the chain for launching a new healthy food program aimed at kids. She announced the chain had taken up her challenge to offer healthier food choices and stop marketing unhealthy foods to children.
At the event, Subway announced that as of February 1, it would only offer items on its kids menu that meet federal nutritional guidelines for school lunches. They also promise to offer children healthy choices and sides that would include apples instead of chips, and drinks like water or low fat milk instead of sodas.
