
The lights on the U.S. Capitol Dome briefly went dark Wednesday night as gusty winds blew through the District of Columbia.
The power failure happened around 8:30pm after both the Senate and the House of Representatives had adjourned for the night.
“High winds in the DC area are currently causing electrical power surges that impacted power supply to the Capitol," Architect of the Capitol spokesman Matt Guilfoyle told CNN.

(CNN) - The Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Commission plans to vote on a controversial design for the memorial honoring the 34th U.S. president despite public objections from the Eisenhower family and members of Congress.
Commissioners are expected to vote "yes" or "no" Friday on the latest design revisions by architect Frank Gehry in an effort bring the project to the National Capital Planning Commission, according to an internal e-mail obtained by CNN.
