IN 08: Rep. Brad Ellsworth (D) is running for Senate in Indiana leaving an open seat.
Primary: May 4, 2010
Days until the election: 11
Indiana's 8th congressional district comes with voters who definitely lean to the more conservative side of the political spectrum, and in a year when conservatives are making a come-back, this one is a key for the GOP. Since the district's representative, Rep. Brad Ellsworth, a Democrat, has decided to run for the state's open Senate seat, this seat is up for grabs, and it's looking more and more like Republicans will take this seat on November 2.

HI 01: Rep. Charles Djou (R) is fighting to keep the seat he won in a special election.
Primary: September 18, 2010
Days until the election: 13
This race is a little quirky. Hawaii's first congressional district, former home to President Barack Obama, longtime Democratic district, but the GOP has a great shot at keeping this seat. Why? Well – a couple reasons: foremost being that this year seems to be the year where the impossible becomes possible in Hawaii politics: a Republican, Charles Djou, won the special election for former Democratic Rep. Neil Abercrombie's seat and now, when Democrat Colleen Hanabusa is trying to take it back, Djou is well-positioned to keep the seat.

A Democratic powerhouse is on the line here in Pennsylvania's 11 district, and he'll have to give it everything he's got in order to keep his seat. Rep. Paul Kanjorski – a 26 year veteran of the House and the Chairman of the Financial Services committee is being challenged for the third time by Republican Lou Barletta.

TN 08: Rep. John Tanner (D) is retiring
Primary: August 5, 2010
Days until the election: 15
With 15 days to go until the midterm elections, it is probably fair to say that there is probably a fair amount of eye-glazing information out there about races that will come down to the wire. But this one – in Tennessee's 8th congressional district – to fill retiring Democratic Rep. John Tanner's seat – is a fantastic little burst of color into the drab black and white of the political numbers game. A preacher versus a gospel singer....what could be better than that?!

NY 24: Rep. Michael Arcuri is defending his seat.
Primary: September 14, 2010 Location: Central New York
Days until the election: 16
This one is a fight in the trenches. Two-term Democratic Rep. Michael Arcuri is fighting to hold his seat for a third term in a do-over race against Republican Richard Hanna. Hanna, whose 48 percent of the vote in 2008 came too close for comfort to Arcuri, now has the advantages of name-recognition in the district, a built-in infrastructure, and of course the terrible environment for incumbents.

Primary: September 14, 2010
Location: Manchester and eastern New Hampshire
Days until the election: 17
New Hampshire has a unique national reputation of having a large number of independent voters. Much of this reputation is due, of course, to the state's position in the presidential nominating calendar. That independent streak extends to congressional elections, including Rep. Carol Shea-Porter's re-election campaign as voters in the 1st district decide whether they back a Democratic incumbent or the Republican challenger.

Primary: May 4, 2010
Location: Western Cincinnati
Days until the election: 20
The Cincinnati suburbs are not a great place to run as a Democrat in an anti-Democratic year. Democratic Rep. Steve Driehaus, who only wrestled this seat from the hands of former Republican Rep. Steve Chabot in 2008, may lose his seat to the man who held it only two years ago.

Primary: August 24, 2010
Location: The middle of the state/a piece of Orlando
Days until the election: 21
This race is nothing if not interesting. First off, you have outspoken and controversial incumbent, Rep. Alan Grayson who has served one term in the House of Representatives, and earned far more than his share of bombastic headlines, famously referring to a woman lobbyist as a "K-Street Whore," and summarizing the Republican position on health care as "If you get sick, die quickly," much to the dismay of his party.

(CNN) - According to prominent political analyst Charlie Cook, this is one of the best shots Democrats have to pick up a seat in the House of Representatives. Incumbent Rep. Mark Kirk (R) is running for Senate in Illinois, leaving an open seat in a left-leaning district. Also a bonus to the Dems, their candidate, Dan Seals, has run for this seat twice before and has a base and solid recognition in the district.

NY 29: Rep. Eric Massa resigned amid alleged scandal, vacating his seat.
Primary: September 14, 2010
Location: Southern tier of New York
Days until the election: 27
Unless the dynamic shifts radically in this district and this race in the 27 days left before the election, New York's 29th congressional district is a sure bet for a Republican take-over come November 2. The seat is open and holding a special election on November 2, as former Democratic Rep. Eric Massa resigned in March 2010 citing a returning case of cancer and an ongoing Congressional Ethics Committee investigation into allegations of sexual harassment. On top of that, Massa's refusal to support the Obama administration's health care bill was a thorn in the side of Democrats, and didn't win him any support when the alleged ethics committee violation arose.
