(CNN) - GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney pulled in $14.16 million in the third quarter, his campaign reported Friday.
The July through September haul brings to more than $32 million the amount of campaign cash raised by the former Massachusetts governor, who's making his second bid for the White House.

(CNN) - President Barack Obama heads home to Chicago early next month to celebrate his 50th birthday and raise some campaign cash for his re-election bid.
The president turns 50 on August 4. According to two Democratic sources with knowledge of the gatherings, the night before Obama will attend two fundraising events at the Aragon theater, a historic ballroom in the "Uptown" section of Chicago.

(CNN) - Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney's presidential campaign said Wednesday it will aim to raise $50 million for his campaign to win the Republican presidential nomination.
"We intend to raise $50 million and more for the primary campaign, and we're off to a very good start," campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul said in a statement.

As expected, Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval Wednesday appointed Rep. Dean Heller, a fellow Republican, to replace Sen. John Ensign, who is resigning early next month. The move makes Heller the sitting senator for a seat that's up for grabs next year.

Washington (CNN) - Some leading national Tea Party organizations are anything but happy with Friday night's deal on the budget that prevented a federal government shutdown.
A spokesman for the Tea Party Express tells CNN the group isn't "very impressed" with the budget deal and says the agreement proves the Tea Party has a lot more work to do to make deeper cuts in the federal budget.
