Biden: Undocumented immigrants 'already American citizens'
Washington (CNN) - Vice President Joe Biden echoed the West Wing’s “we can’t wait” mantra Thursday, telling a crowd at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Summit that “undocumented aliens” are already American citizens.
“You know, 11 million people that are living in the shadows. I believe they’re already Americans citizens,” Biden said. “These people are just waiting, waiting for a chance to be able to contribute fully. And by that standard, 11 million undocumented aliens are already Americans in my view.”

Bill Clinton honored with #42 Jersey at University of Arkansas NCAA Championship team celebration
(CNN) - Former President and Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton was presented with a framed #42 jersey on Saturday from the University of Arkansas men’s basketball team as a part of a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the NCAA Championship team.
Clinton, the 42nd president of the United States and 42nd governor of Arkansas, attended the championship game 20 years ago in 1994 when the Arkansas Razorbacks men’s basketball team defeated Duke in the NCAA Championship game.
Mitch McConnell on allowing debt-ceiling vote: "I had to do what's best for the country"
Washington (CNN) - Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, on Friday defended his decision back home in Kentucky to join Democrats in a vote to clear a filibuster hurdle that allowed a vote to raise the debt ceiling.
"My job is to protect the country when I can and to step up and lead on those occasions when it's required. That's what I did," he said at a campaign appearance in Louisville.
McConnell was one of 12 Republican senators to join Democrats on Tuesday in voting to end debate on the debt-ceiling bill that will extend the federal debt limit for a year, a move his opponents have been quick to criticize him for.
President Obama signed the bill into law Saturday in California, the White House said in a statement.

Florida congressman calls Obamacare 'a breach of faith' for seniors
Washington (CNN) - Rep. Tom Rooney, R-Florida, slammed President Obama for not doing his part to help lower health care costs for older Americans, calling his health care promises a "breach of faith" for seniors.
"Across the country, millions of seniors are now paying more money for fewer choices, less access and far less peace of mind," Rooney said. "This goes well beyond a glitch or a pocketbook issue. This is a breach of faith."

Closely watched religious conservative skips Senate race in Iowa
Washington (CNN) - After weeks of speculation, religious conservative Bob Vander Plaats has announced he will not run for Senate in Iowa.
Vander Plaats’ possible entrance into the June primary worried some Republicans who believed he would have hurt their chances of wresting this Senate seat from Democratic hands if he had won the GOP nomination. While Vander Plaats is a popular figure among Christian conservatives, his candidacy may have alienated centrist Republicans and politically moderate independent voters, which are key to winning in a general election.

Christie calls Obamacare a ‘train wreck’
(CNN) – In an interview with a local radio station Monday night, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie called Obamacare a “train wreck.”
"This is just an awful law. It made no sense and that's why I didn't get into a state exchange. And no, I have absolutely no regrets. In fact, I’m really glad that the train wreck’s not mine; it’s his," Christie told listeners on New Jersey 101.5FM, referring to President Barack Obama.

D.C. mayor: City will not shut down
Washington (CNN) - If city leaders have their way, the nation’s capital will not come to a standstill if the federal government shuts down next week.
Mayor Vincent Gray told the White House on Wednesday that all city operations are essential and would continue if Congress fails to renew spending, which expires September 30.
